Bay Area suspension shop? Need spring rates measured

I have two sets of lowering springs that I want to measure. I called a local suspension/alignment shop and he laughed when I asked if he could measure spring rates. Do people not do that anymore?

I'm not a patron of Mann Engineering personally, so others might have more info, but that sounds up their alley.

You could probably do it yourself with some weights and a tape measure. Not super accurate, but it will give you a ballpark.

Could try asking the manufactures of course, assuming you know them. Or is that why you want to measure them in the first place?

I bought a set of Tokico struts that came with some red springs. I already have some Prodrive red springs that I'll probably use but I'd like to know what they are first. I'm sure I could find rates for the Prodrive springs but Tokico was bought out two years ago back when these were discontinued so I doubt they'll be any help.

Prodrive does not release that specific information regarding their springs, so you may find off-hand information.

Are there any markings/numbers/anything on the springs? My Swift Sports are also red but they say Swift on them. Starting to wear off already. I had Prodrives on my 2.5RS and I thought they also had markings on them.

The Prodrives are on the car currently, the Tokico springs are expected to be delivered tomorrow so I'll take a close look for markings. I called Mann and they do have the machine to measure spring rates but only for coilover style springs, not the funky shaped OE style springs.

If you know the thickness of the wire and the number of coils, this is easy to calculate http://www.acxesspring.com/spring-fo...alculator.html

Yep, mic. the coil thickness, plug it in and you can get a pretty close to exact number.
