BAM2013: Day of advice

Alright folks. Tomorrow is the day. Here's my advice thread....

First and foremost, this is a family friendly event. Come to have fun. This event is great because the people that are there are great.

Saying that... I'm telling you right now. DO NOT act a fool. You get wasted I'll take your keys. You start crap we'll end crap. Pick up after yourselves. Treat everyone with respect. You look like you're 12 and you have a beer in your hand I'll card you. You're under age you'll be asked to leave.

Do not drive like morons and you will be just fine. No donuts.

We have a few extra shirts and sweatshirts for sale. They will not be available until lunch time. We'll be able to take cash and credit cards. Same with raffle tickets.

If you wonder why a certain thing on the list didn't get raffled off it is not because I kept it. It's because it hasn't come in yet. There will be an announcement but here's the deal.... KEEP YOUR TICKETS. Anything that comes in after the event will still be raffled off. I'll draw tickets and announce the winner on i-club AND on the website.

Things to bring...

1. A good attitude.
2. Sun screen.
3. Any beers you'll want.
4. If you want to eat anything besides what we have... bring it. We'll have a grill set aside for anyone that wants to cook their own stuff. We'll provide the grill and the charcoal. You cook it.
5. Shade. It's going to be a nice day but you'll get hot.
6. Chairs. Trust me... bring a chair.
7. Frizbee. Football. Whatever the hell you want to do. It's a park. Treat it like a park. Bring your family. Bring your dog. Have a good time. We do the events at parks because that's what we want. We want people to enjoy a day off. Chill. Talk. Laugh.
8. A generous spirit. I took this event last year because I believe in it and I believed in the charity work. Remember... this event is to raise money for Nathan and his family. If you win a prize you can't use... put it back in the raffle or give it to someone who can. Buy raffle tickets. Make donations.

So... the basic run down.
Show up. Park. Walk around. Make sure you visit all the vendors and say hello. Buy something. Many of them will have BAM only deals and discounts. Ask about them.

We'll have 3 eat times. They'll be posted on a white board.
We'll have 2 or 3 raffle times. They'll be posted on a white board.
We'll have raffle tickets for sale along with shirts, hoodies and maybe some stickers. Prices will be posted on a white board.

The event is technically over around 3 but it's a park.... you want to stay and hang out... do so. Just clean up after yourselves. The goal is to leave the place cleaner than when we get there.

There will be models and photo times. They'll probably be posted on a white board.

If you have any questions, issues or need help... find a red shirt and they'll find me.

We will have security people on site... some in red shirts some out. Do NOT act a fool. Keep your drinking on the grass. No hard alcohol. No underage drinking. Stay within your limits. DO NOT drive drunk. I am not kidding... I catch you drunk. I'll take your keys and you can wait until I can arrange a way to get you home safely or your mom can come get you. Or worse yet... your wives.

Here's the deal. You get caught acting stupid and jeopardizing this event you will be asked to leave. Your screen name will be posted up on the forums and the wrath of the boards will come at you. We do this event for you guys. None of us are making money. The vendors do it because it's a good cause and it's a quality event. The volunteers do it for the same reason.

And remember... if you don't get fed or you don't get a shirt... you were warned. We accounted for a lot more people than prepayed. We'll do the best we can. Enjoy yourselves. Drink water.

Thank you in advance for helping with this case. Nathan and his family deserve every penny we can put together for them.

All you noobs... prepare for understanding why people look forward to this every year. It's a family bbq on steroids. It's awesome.

Great list of tips. And couldn't agree more #1 and #8.

And in case y'all need a reminder about our very deserving cause, here's the link to the Official Announcement about helping Nathan Alonso & his family...

Also, here are:

Nathan's facebook page

We have some lofty expectations that today will be a big part of his family reaching their $15,000 fundraising goal.

Added the bit about checking in. ALL attendees must wear their event wristband. If you are not, someone on the staff will ask you to. It's how we know you've paid to attend the event as well as how we know you're Good To Go as far as getting grub.

Thanks again in advance for your cooperation.

Have a BAM good time!

I don't drink pee water. I've got some dogfish and some lagunitas. You can have beer and wine of all kinds, you just can't have hard alcholo... i.e. a bottle of jack daniels.

Suggestion for next year's event is going to be that prominently placed and marked recycling container. I saw way too many aluminum cans in the trash as well as what we picked up in the lot.

Also...

..A Hearty Well Done To Ray and His Team. It's always been fun as an attendee but it was even nicer as a Vendor. Like I said, in all the years this has to have been both the biggest in attendance and overall organization I have seen.

You guys did a great job in our eyes.

Thank You.
