So, I rode the blur, the new superlight, the truth, ventana el saltamontes.

Of those, the truth was my favorite, but WAY outside my price range. Also liked the Ventana.

Didn't like the Blur.

I think I will pick up a 'D' kit Superlight, upgrade to the RP23 shock, replace the shifter pods with the ST style (I much prefer them over the SL rapidfire style) and call it a day.

I finally bought a bike today.

I managed to find I gorgeously well maintained Ellsworth Truth with VERY nice components (Ti cassettes, Ti pedals, Ti skewers, SRAM XO, etc) for $1900, which I bought today. The best part? Weight: 23 lbs

Its a beautiful bike:

Mavic XC 717, 32 straight lace front & 32 triple cross rear
Black Chris King sealed hubs, Ti Skewers (Hubs will get replaced with disc compatble ones)
Rock Shox SID Front Shocks with remote finger trigger lock out
Race Face Sealed Head set
Bontrager Stem
Easton Monkey Lite Bars
SRAM XO Shifters
Avid Brake Levers and V Brakes (these will get replaced)
Easton EC70 Seat Stem
Fox Float R Rear Suspension shock, Adjustable
Race Face Deus Cranks and Chain Rings
Race Face Ti Bottom Bracket
Speedplay Ti Frog Mt Pedals
SRAM X Gen Front Derailuer
SRAM XO Rear Derailure
Shimano Ti 9 speed cassette

Congrats.

That's a pretty sweet component list. And you can't beat 23 lbs!

ummm, the skewers, are yo sure they're OK? For example, the Salsa Ti skewers are only rated for road riding...
