Bah...another dead STI (soon)
eh ... i'm sixteen and I have a 92' 3000GT vr-4 TT..
it's a 5 speed when I got it i just jumped in a drove away, only stalled like two or three times.. and within a day or two I was rev matching when downshifting
maybe this kid will be "natural" at it like me

Learning to drive stick on an old Bug will do him absolutely no good once he gets into the STi. My first manual transmission car was a 1988 Subaru RX, and I drove that thing for a good 6 months before I got my WRX, but when I got into the WRX, I was so used to the stiff cable operated clutch that the soft pedal and sensitivity of the WRX clutch was totally new to me. I definitely recommend driving and getting used to as many different types of cars and clutches as possible, but I really don't see a problem with someone learning stick in an STi.

My WRX is my first stick car... first car at all too. I learned in my friends Accord and was a natural at it, but even after driving it around a little bit had a hard time adjusting to my stiff clutch and knotchy shifting.
He needs to atleast drive another car first (not necessarily own, but learn on).
Also interested in which forum it is.

Maybe we can hook him up with that other Sti kid to show him how to do 7k drops and destroy his tranny.
