About the wheels.... the front right cracked when I hit the curb.

I do admit I wasn't slowing until I saw the kid, I was just gliding along.
The cops also said that the skid marks looked like acceleration marks rather than braking skid marks since they weren't broken up, just one straight long line. (if ABS was working, would have been broken up)

Just used that Auto Stopping Distance website.... the skidmarks are about 50 feet long I remember hearing them say. I calculated it and according to that, if I was going 35mph with brand new tires, I would go 51 feet.... so a little less than 35 since my tires were not new.

For 50mph on new tires, the link says it would be a 104 foot stopping distance.

I'm not sure if I will fight it, but I am going to read up on that link.

About the points.... I have 1 for reckless driving, and 1 for the speeding. I can get rid of the speeding one by doing traffic school, but I think the reckless driving point sticks with me for 7 years.

Angry

If I saw you driving wrecklessly enough for you to pull your ride up on those rocks in my neighborhood, I'd do more damage to your car and you than those rocks did for sure.

FYI reckless driving is a 2 point offense.

you dont have to go very fast to get a stock ride up like that. 35 mph would easily bust any rim riding up on a curb.

As for the skid marks - When I was at the car control clinic last week from a 35 mph roll I was able to come to a complete stop in no more then 40 feet tops and ABS only kicked in the last 10 feet maybe? And this was literally mashing on the brake as fast and hard as possible.

The police estimates do not sound accurate to me, but I am not a pro.

just my two cents.

I have read that, but the cop also said I'm getting one point for that and one point for speeding.

I wasn't mashing on the brakes as hard as I could, but I was definitely pressing them with a good amount of force. Once I noticed where I was headed, I did mash on them though.

I don't know about the police estimates, but if the consequences are grave enough, get a lawyer! An extra 2 points on your insurance will make it worthwhile to dish out the money up front to try and get out of this ordeal.

Good point. I just don't like when people drive fast in my neighborhood. I have have nieces and nephews that come to my house to play and also live accross the street from an elemetary school. I've seen too many close calls. Sometimes I drive slower than 25 in housing areas if it looks like there is anyone walking on the sidewalks and what not. So I hope he gets what's comin' his way.
