Yeah that was my thought. The motor is all pimped out and looks like an american flag. Then he's got the brembos but there are tons of other places that haven't been addressed or have just been half assed. And quite frankly so has some of the work.

It's one of those things where you're like... well I guess he'll get their eventually?

I think it's a cool build but I'd be more stoked if he did it the other way around and gutted it, caged it and went nuts on the suspension set up. It would be a faster car on the track too... even with a stock swap in there over that pimped out motor.

IMO, passion>pride. he obviously loves what he does/done to the car or he wouldnt do it. as a DIY/self work point of view, the dude obviously put the time, effort and $$$. some of us have different ideas/prospects of spending our time, effort, $$$. I agree its a bit "weird" (color, work, processes) but the fact that he did it with his own 2 hands and created what HE wanted....just amazing. a bit jelly i cant spend that time and $$$ on random DIYs i have thought up of. in terms of the average SUby build: 5.5/10. in terms of ingenuity and creativity: 10/10!

Werd. I always give respect when people are out there doing it themselves and doing what THEY want. I wouldn't do it. But it's still cool.

I'm assuming that if I wanted to do a CA bar legal turbo swap for my legacy id need to use the ej255 from 05+ legacy gt/obxt?

Who in the bay area could even do that for me?

Don't think so. I think you can put whatever you want in there as long as it's newer than what you're taking out. As long as it's done clean it's all good.

LIC could do it.

Like what OneManArmy said whatever goes in must be newer than what came out. Since there is not an STI model that came with an EJ257, you are pretty much stuck with an EJ255. Nothing wrong with that and they make great power and are cheaper than an EJ257. Any shop as long as its a complete swap.

I've done the CA swap method in my 2.5RS. All OBD2 monitors must be in full operating condition. I used Iwire to merge the harness. Kept the existing gauge cluster because I didn't want to deal with the odometer paperwork. Existing gas tank, did not change it to 03-06.

BAR asked me where I purchased the engine from, I provided a receipt of that along with all other places I used to complete the swap.

I thought LIC didn't mess with swaps anymore?

I know absolutely zero about what id need to do to swap my car to a ej255 turbo motor...

I haven't seen a CA bar legal turbo swapped 00-04 legacy/ob yet in my searches
