If only I was still in the BA, I'd be going, but now I'm in college down south. I had a bad experience going to the Marina one... considering I couldn't run since on the way there, I got hit and the guy ran...

for me, i learned a lot: don't have 3 drivers in 1 car going back to back to back runs on concrete on NEW tires (less than 100 miles) and expect them to hold up. After 10-12 runs, it was evedent that the temps were WAY too hot, even for the generally temp loving tire. I should have stuck with the MX for one last run, and have probably gotten better results. I think putting mileage on the hankooks for the next 3 weeks will be good for them. I'm also going to try new tire pressures and stiffness setting on the shocks.

Thanks Gagan for letting me co-drive your car. It really is a great car with lots of potential, and I love those tires! They freakin grip! They still felt really good on my fourth run and we already did at least 10 runs on them. Three drivers on your car really took its toll on the tires.

And thanks to Leo for lending us some of his air. The car really felt a LOT better after that.

BTW Gagan, you really improved man! Just keep it up.

Thanks Leo #2! You're welcome to race anytime in the car. I ended up improving 2 tenths to 66.2 during fun runs. That was about as much as I could extract. What weird, is i think all that racing bedded my pads in. The car brakes better than it did when I drove down this morning... I dunno how that works.

And yes, thank you Leo #1 for letting us use some air. I wasn't able to check my pressures before hand and was running late. I even forgot my tire pressure gauge.

How many runs do u usually get with SCCA? I done some runs with BMWCCA events, and we typically get 6(official timed) + 3(fun runs). They are typically held at Marina which is fine for me since I'm from SJ

The SCCA events are MUCH larger than your BMWCCA events - 350+ cars. So we usually get 3 runs, each of which count.

Funs runs vary - sometimes we have them sometimes no.

I think Leo #2 should now be called Leo #1 after this weekends results!

I'll be sending you the bill for the air you guys used up. You can pay me back in driving/set up tips; i was hurting out there. i finally got my act together after a couple of set up tweaks for fun runs. (btw, thanks for the tools/jack to dial out camber), among other things it made a HUGE difference. still a great day; definitely worth the 1.5 hr drive. wish you coulda made it rob!

I find that tire pressure makes a huge difference in auto-x (this is obvious for many people) and I ran 48/52 on S-03s if you guys don't mind what pressures were you running? All I know is I went crazy with the super soft sidewalls with RE-92s, and was hitting around 60

If you're that high on pressures with S03s, you either have the suspension way off or you're overdriving the car

FWIW, my setup on the WRX (235/40R17 Hankook RS2s on 17x8" Rota Torques) is 40f/38r on concrete, about 2 PSI less on asphalt. The car would be like driving on ice skates at 50 psi

Sounds like it was a fun event. I had fun in TX, pretty much lapped the field (so to speak) in stock class at that Impala autocross event (not only won stock class, but would have won "prepared" above it and almost trophied in "race" class!). It was a bone stock Impala SS on Falken Azeni RT-615s.....damn good ST tire!

Nice job, Ed! Sounds like you had a lot of fun too. See you at the Oakland event.
