No argument at all, I think this is something that 80% of all college students consider doing at some point, me included.

Just brings back memories :sadwavey:

so blood plasma as in giving blood or is it different? all i got for blood was a movie pass, not that saving lives isnt enough for me.

Sperm donation huh? youll see a bunch of little onions running around in a few years and be like, damn that kid looks like me! haha i dont know if i'd do that, whats the pay off like? $50 for the deposit then $5000 if it works with an egg? or is that $5000 out of the womens pocket to say thank you?

Yeah and get on a family cell plan like me, i cost $9.99 so my mom pays it!

stop going to INO, Jack and McD dollar menu and a water. Screw what people say, ive been eating it my whole life a few times a week hae weighed 180 for the past 5 or 6 years, and my blood pressure is alright if that matters. I bet you i've saved $1000 eating there

Slimfast is good too, about $1 each at Walmart, lots of nutrition and taste REALLY good.

I am going to try to eat healthy. New Year's resolution is to lose some weight.

And I can use all the extra weight that I can take off the car. Got to make up for the 37whp somewhere.

yeah, hmm i think being healthy is gonna eat up your wallet. You have the rest of your life after college to eat healthy IMO

maybe you can steal produce, after all youre in Davis! Its not stealling if you fall to the ground and start munching on some greens, just dont touch them with your hands and its not stealing. Hopefully the pesticides wont make you sick

Yeah... but eating out is expensive. I can make food for a whole lot less.

as a farmer, I can guarantee you you'll get shot at, or at least eyed up through a scope.

As for the blood plasma thing. It's like giving blood, they stick a needle in your arm, but you're hooked to a machine. The machine seperates your blood cells from the plasma, send them to two different places, once the cells are seperated (into a small resivoir[sp?]) they are returned to your body. This is done in cycles of ~ 5minutes and usually lasts an hour. They take 880ml from me. You can do it about twice a week and no more than 3 times within 10 days. It's easy money to say the least.

I graduated '97 from UCD. That's for some context.

figure out if you're in a field where grades matter (like medical, law,) anywhere that's ultra competitive for grad school. If so, forget everything else and focus on grades. Get use to debt...if well managed, it's just another tool. Hey, millionaires owe more money than anyone...because they know how to manage it.

If you're in a field where you just need to graduate....focus on networking in your field of study. Get an edge over your competition...think about how your first real job interviews are going to be...what can you tell them, show them, that would make you stand out? I've interviewed many candidates so far in my career...you can not have too much experience when you're young.

You're letting simple practicality hamper you from the greater experience that is college. If the best thing you can say after college was, "well I managed to graduate without much debt"...then you lose.

since 03_imprezza Al bumped this thread I'll quote BOOST's post and reiterate it.

"I wanna save money" is a bad mentality when you're in that learning/early career stage. Seriously it's stupid.

I have friends that got complacent with a $40k/year job out of high school and now they're behind. I have friends that got complacent with a $70k/year job out of college and they are about to be left behind. And I know if I went to med school or something I bet I'd know doctor friends who got complacent with a $150k/year job and get left behind. Obviously we then ask ourselves "how much do I need to be happy and fulfilled in life" but that's a subject of another discussion. The point is - in your early career don't worry about **** like risks and money, you've got 30-40 years for that

"I wanna try my best to advance myself to make money later" is the right one. Unfortunately I think when you're in college it's easy to get distracted by side projects and sometimes get rich schemes, or side gigs. Students are especially vulnerable to being distracted since a lot of the times you aren't sure what direction you want to take your life in.

Still, looking for opportunities, getting good grades in school, meeting as many people as you can, and I'd venture out to say join a fraternity to establish a career network that will help you even if you suck at life - I think it's perfectly legitimate to join a frat for career networking although some people will disagree with me. Seriously, 5-10 years, 20 years out of college when you want to find someone in XYZ field to talk to about making a career transition, the people in your frat are going to be the ones obligated to help you out even though to them you're just a random person.
