Hi all.
Just wondering. How many track days should I have done before I should even consider trying to go to Laguna Seca? At the moment, I have only one track day at Thunderhill under my belt. I know there is an event with Unlimited Laps on November 30th, and I am kind of interested in giving it a go.
Edit:
List of Peeps interested in November 30th Laguna Seca Track Day (from MBasile)
Edit again: It has been brought to my attention that this list may be misleading. This is not list is in no way an event confirmation. This is just a list of people who may be interested in signing up for the track day on November 30th, 2008 at Laguna Seca. A few things. 1) We don't know if we can get a group rate. 2) We don't know how many spots are available. 3) We don't know what the pricing on the track day will be. This is just a feeler thread/list!

One is enough. Laguna Seca was my 2nd track day and 2 of my friend's first times.
Like any other new track, go slow when you first go out; and make sure you hit your lines/apexes. Run at like 4/10ths to make sure you hit your apex/turns right and build up speed from there. The biggest gotcha is turn 9... the downhill left that comes after the corkscrew.
Laguna Seca is not a track of death. I hear Infineon is a little more car hungry.
Definitely go with U-laps.

Sears Point can bite you if you are running fast, but Laguna can get ya when you are going "slow" too. I think it gets it's 'car eating' rep from the walls - there is not as much safe runoff as at T-Hill and some others. They have fairly recently filled the runoff with sand and gravel though so instead of accellerating and slamming into a tire wall when you go off track you stop right there safely and wait for safety to pull you out.
Just take it slow, and I mean take your first laps methodical and slow, exaggerate the line for at least 5-8 laps and then have fun. Turn2 is sweeeeeet. So are all the rest. LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTORS they are there to help. If you get ahead of yourself, slow down, follow someone who knows the line and you will be fine. Have a blast!

Laguna Seca was my first track, just take it at a safe pace. The only semi-bad part is the corkscrew and thats more psychologically challenging than physically. The majority of the track, with the exception of the front straight, has plenty of dirt on the sides incase you spin out and go off track, so its not like you're going to run into any walls.
laguna seca aint as bad as infineon in terms of off track experience
and even if you do that just means you need to slow down more and drive on a comfortable pace.being it might be the last laguna event for the year im probly gonna be signing up also but will be in the intermediate group.use your 1st session to get really familiar with the track and start adjusting later on the next sessions.just get your brake fluids bled/replaced if necessary before the event and some good pads prefferably more than 50% left on it.this will be my 5th event in laguna and I always gotta drive it at least once or twice a year.
hey chimchimm you signing up for this event also?

Laguna Seca isn't really as hard as Infineon.
I just spent 3 days there this weekend.
Awesome track, best out of the bunch IMO. Not as challenging as Infineon but much better runoff and I enjoy turn 6 and the corkscrew a lot more than Infineon's T10 and esses.

my "stimulant" would already be dried up by then.
