Ken Rockwell's article on the soon to be released:
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/18200.htm

AF-S DX VR 18-200mm lens. It's not cheap, but worth every penny I'm sure.
I have been looking every where for this lens.

Anyone else been scoping this out?

Yeah, I want it, but I can't spend money right now. I've been eyeing that and the D200. If only I had the money....

if you are gonna listen to anyone, don't listen to ken rockwell. i haven't heard anything good about this guy.

anyways, the 18-200 looks good, but i'll probably use that when i'm traveling. i'm pretty sure my primes are still better than that. LOL. VR is great, but VR isn't replace my 1.4 lenses.

oh yea, since the topic is D70 & D100 owners...you might wanna check to see if your battery is part of the recall. this would include D50 owners as well.

Sorry to hear that Ken Rockwell's advise is no good. On that note, here's the battery recall info from Rockwell's website.

I don't know why JZ 007 said this, but usually when you become attached to a particular website reviewing digital cameras you become biased towards other sites. He stated he hadn't heard anything good about this guy, but where did he hear this info? Maybe biased reviews from another Digital Review site againts Rockwell. Personally, I like Rockwell's reviews. Written in plain english. After all the research I did on the Nikon D70 and the Canon 20D and trying to sort out all the information it was Rockwell's personal experience is what swayed me.

if 80% of members at dpreview has spoken crap about him, then i don't see what is so great about him. i know there's alot of bull**** at dpreview, but when there are numerous threads bashing him it must mean something. one member at dpreview made a good point, "You never see anybody saying Thom Hogan or Rob Galbraith are full of it." basically i don't like it when he writes about stuff that he has never touched.

good range. i'm a canon shooter instead, but if i were to go with the d200 body coming up, i'd get the trusty nikor 17-55mm.

now if only canon would make a 17-55mm for the 20d's 1.6x crop factor. i have to use the 16-35mm and 24-70mm to cover for that range.

You point is well taken. Rockwell owns both the canon 20d and Nikon 70D which was what I based my purchase in addition to the other reviews by others.
Outside those reviews, the only other review I have read of his was on the Nikon 7900.
