att microcell gimmick

Totally lame. Everytime i'd try to use my iphone in silicon valley area around rush hour it'd be completely useless. Guess much hasn't changed.

Gahhh, I strongly disliked AT&T... Got a Palm Pre and now my phone works in my OWN house (crazy, I know!) and at the barn where I keep my horse in the boonies. Sprint FTW.

iphone network is an overlay on top of the att existing network. One thing to note is the microcell device has been reported to help phone calls but doesnt do anything for edge/3g/hsdpa connectivity or speed.

Here's how much I love at&t. Had to replace a coworkers stolen blackberry, got a new in box BB Curve for at&t, and when it finds 3G network, it can't do anything with it. Her BB literally couldn't download mail for 2 hours while sitting on her desk. I did some troubleshooting on it, thing runs fine when its on "Edge".Oh and her personal iPhone wasn't picking up 3G much, but her boss' in the office adjascent was. Luckily most of our BB's run on Verizon. AT&T ftmfl.

I think it's funny how I have no problems with my Iphone or my 3 cell phones I have at the AT&T network, A trick with the iphone is to turn OFF 3g when you are only using the phone for calls. If you want to use the internet or data on the phone turn the 3g back on. I drive from Gilroy to SF every day for work and I'm on con calls for 60 miles on 280 and have perfict connection the entire time.

If you can turn 3g off it will have less to no dropped calls.

I have no problems at all with my HTC tilt2 on AT&T. perhaps its just you apple fanboys that got screwed

And to note, I have activesync set up for 1 exchange server, 12 pop servers, plus live GPS, live weather update, and a wireless hack/wardialer program running at all times.

I'm on AT&T with a Tilt (HTC) as well and don't have any of these problems. I get 3G service at my home and work and have been very happy. Verizon reception sucked at my folks house while my AT&T service would be at 3 or 4 bars. I think most of it has to do with personal experiences. Wireless providers are all in the same boat as far as I'm concerned though....the ripoff boat.

I really only have a dead spot in the middle of my office building on most cell phones. My iphone seems to work fine everywhere my verizon phone does.
