As what OneManArmy said, just use a different mouse. Either way with the single button mouse, you just hold it for a second and you have your 'right mouse click' menu. Different action, same amount of time for the same results. BTW my standard cheapie Microshaft USB mouse works fine on my old iBook.

I use XP on the desktop at work because I have to. Slowly migrating to ubuntu. I work with the guys who wrote O'Reilly's "Ubuntu Hacks" so I am getting all the help I can when I have time. Want to completely move over, but there are still a few things I dunno how to do that I need to be able to do on the home PC.

This thread is now an argument about Macs now?

When the time comes where I "have" to switch over to Vista to be able to use any programs, I'll be using a Mac. Or whenever my PC decides to crap out, which ever comes first.

It looks to me like a thread about Windows Vista with a few posts about different ways of using a mouse on a Mac.

Also doubt it's twice as fast....depending on what you're processing.
all my components have warranties ranging from 1 year to 5 years.

the majority of my components are superior to what apple offers...but it's apples to oranges...I have a desktop, the macbook is a laptop. So, in a way, you're right. But if I were to compare desktops, I'm not a fan of the grill look on the Mac Pro...I actually prefer my Sonata case. to each their own though...so no complaints here on the beauty of Mac designs.

And it is twice as fast on video encoding....that's cause I'm running an C2D E4300 O/C to 3.2 Ghz. Is that really fair to compare to an non O/C'ed mac? No, but then that's the beauty of the PC/Windows/Linux platform....the flexibility to build your own and do whatever the heck you want with it....at a much lower price. Somewhat like modding your WRX

apple > pc for everyday use
pc > apple for gaming
apple > pc for music production, video editing, graphic design

results: Apple 2 PC 1

true that...definately not fair to compare a desktop to a laptop.

I love the look of the G5. Love it. I think it's the best out of the box design of a computer...major manufacturer...ever. Least I can't think of a better looking desktop. The mini looks nice as well. Simple etc.

Now full custom PC cases can get pretty damn sick. But inside and out the mac case is so well thought out.

You can do some messing around with mac's these days but yeah not much. Just not many people making things. It's only a matter of time though. And macs will eventually get closer and closer on the gaming front as well.

PC's are hands down the best gaming tools their are though. A well build one is fun as hell. Course I don't have a PS3 yet. haa.

Just ran into my first problem with vista... my dvd-rom decides to stop detecting disks lol. Atleast my burner still works. I know both worked the last time I tried to rip some dvds, and since then I think the only thing I installed was daemon tools and nvidia purevideo decoder.

I just bought the Released version of Vista for Business. RC1 has been fairly stable until I installed the new Symantec Anti-Virus 10.2 Corporate Edition. Then it sucked

I uninstalled SAV and it went back to OK.

I'll see if the released version of Vista fixes whatever that is about.

Vista is actually not all that bad. I've run into my issues here and there, and for whatever reason vista decided to resize my desktop icons for me one day, but other than that I like it. I still prefer OS X, mainly because I am a unix guy, but thats just me and my own preference. Overall I think Microsoft has gotten it right this time with Vista, and they are definitely on the right path. I was impressed with the defender's capabilities and how vista also linked me to developers websites with downloads for patches to allow proper use on vista. Also, the calendar application is great, and I've been using it a lot. Now if only hardware makers could develop better drivers for their products...IE Creative for my x-fi fatal1ty.
