Anyone looking to drive 24-hours of Lemons?

This came through my car club. Anyone looking to do a little endurance racing, this is a damn cheap way to do it!

I am looking for drivers for the 24 hours of Lemons at Thunder Hill the weekend of Sept 13-15. I have a few spots open as of now and if this date does not work out let me know if you are interested in doing it in the future because I usually have a spot or two open for future races. I have to have a team by July 21st or I forfeit the spot in the race.

The car is a 1985 Mazda Rx7 that is basically prepped for IT7. It has a full cage, double door bars, and has been built for safety. It has raced more than 6 race finishing all of them with no major problems. In the past I have had friends fly in from across the country so I have a bunch of spares to cover problems that might occur. I have an extra engine, trans, brakes, tires, struts, and so on. I have run the team with the idea that some friends have paid a lot of money to race, I don’t want to be out of the race because something broke. I have spent a lot of time prepping the car to run the entire race as long as no one bangs it up. I am not looking for people that want to set a new track record but people that will be respectful of the car and the other people that have paid for track time. Crashing, banging, and off track excursions get you black flags. On your teams 4th black flag they ask you to park the car for the rest of the weekend.

I have some extra driving suites, shoes, and gloves so that should not be a problem. There will be some height and weight restrictions because it is a small car. I am about 6’1” and 200lbs and just fit, so if you are a little bigger you may want to see if you fit comfortably in the car.

The price break down and race rules for buying into the car are listed below (I had to come up with some new rules because some of the guys were starting to get a little reckless).

Here are a few of the new rules moving forward:

# 1 - Drivers who incurs damage will be responsible to pay for damages plus 25% for time spent finding and replacing parts. (no one has had to pay for anything yet. I started this because guys were making unnecessary dive bombs into corners and causing accidents. Damaging the car, and getting black flags)

# 2 - Black flags- If you get a black flag for something you did you forfeit your turn to the next driver. If there is time at the end of the day you will be able to get that time back after everyone has had their turns. We all lose track time for penalties and having to fix damage.

#3 - The price for buying into the race will be $600 plus the Lemons entry fees which are about $275. (This covers all the gas, tires, and brakes )

Let me know if you have any questions or if this sounds like something you'd like do! Each person gets about 4-5 hours of racing over the weekend.

Damn I would love to do this and that seems like a great price. No extra dough though

I am assuming you would need a competition license for this, but I don't know much about Lemons. I'll look into it a little later, but if you know...

No License needed. Brought in a friend who did this with me a few years ago. Paid a fee through Lemons and was good to go
