You know you can't just "mod" a cheep diode laser to "burn" things right?

I am not about to go into the math and science behind why a laser works, but you can't just take a diode and toss more voltage at it and expect it to work. It just doesn't work that way.

If you want a laser that "burns" hunt around the net, there are tons of sources out there for how to build with the big boys.

OH, a buddy of mine that is WAY into lasers, is building in his garage a 250 watt laser. This thing is going to be FUN, we figure if we can get it to lase at 50% effecency we should be able to slice 1" thick steel like its made of butter.

that is a 10watt laser used to engrave metal.

the "burn ****" was a joke.should have known better.theres way to many **** uptight Dbags on here who need to give 100 reasons why someone shouldnt do something.
fact is i dont need to explain why i want it,just that i do.

 

Nation if you get me a green laser off e-bay I should be able to up its output into the 40-50miliwatt range without burning the diode out. That will be good for a beam 3-4 miles long.
