ive made a few, first you have to find yourself a broken blu-ray player or a old Xbox HD player. Be good with soldering and have some basic electronic skills.
Last one I put together I amped up hot as hell, used a maglight body, and could write my name in wood from 5" away.
You really want fun, get a older military surplus helium/argon tube with a good power supply, helped a buddy of mine make one to cut metal with (up to 14 gauge)

yeah anyhow, I kinda want one of these now.
Funny how someone can post here about whats the best shotgun to buy to splatter someones guts against the wall and everyone will take it totally seriously and give tons of useful advice, but someone asks about making a laser that can pop a balloon and people will flame him all to hell.

Funny I just got one off ebay recently for 6 bucks. Took 3 weeks to get here from Taiwan but I'm very pleased with the results. Bright as **** and can be seen in low clouds at night when shined upwards.
