Anyone here ever go ATVing at Pismo Beach..?
Planning a trip this weekend and I was going to head out there Sunday for ATVing with my gf. I've never been before but she has and she asked if we could take my car because apparently you have to drive through some of the beach to get to where you need to go to start.
The old me would be all about it because rally car. But I've also heard once you drive on sand it gets EVERYWHERE, forever. I was wondering how bad it would be if anyone here has ever taken their cars out to the ATV place at Pismo, thanks!

yes, all the time. . Love it..just drive there, hit one of the rental places and go out from anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours or more.
it's a killer time
you don't have to park in the sand..you can park on the street and walk. that said, the sand is packed enough that it's not going to cause you problems.

In agreement with the above comment.
Did this a few years ago, and it was well worth it.
The sand is deeper closer to the dunes/shore and more packed like a road closer to the water (like any beach).
If it's high tide you may have to drive up in the softer sand, but enough cars drive out there regularly it usually isn't that bad.
Plus with the AWD it won't be a problem.

Don't bring a car. If you do at least know how to strap it out. I've seen AWD's get stuck because of hanging up the undercarriage and not having lockers. Stick to the sand highway though and you should be OK.

I wanted to post the video of Richard Hammond getting stuck on the beach in Africa with his bug eye on that Africa special, but I got lazy

they have shuttles from the downtown strip that bring you to the rental spot. The place we rented from was really far from the entrance gate to go from the city and drive onto the bridge. It would be a really far walk, but probably doable.
The sand isn't bad depending on the tide. You're driving pretty slow so it's not that bad. There were some 2wd cars and vans that made it through.
It's lots of fun. Buggy is kinda fun if you gf isn't adventurous. We upgraded one level up from the base model ATV's for a bit more power + manual shifting. Highly recommend MT if you want to go up steep hills.
Have fun!

Took gf's m3 and shuttled. Apparently it hasn't rained since February so it was crazy dry and soft causing us to get stuck multiple times which sucked. It was fun though some of the drops there are massive. Almost accidentally rode into a 10 footer pretty much straight down. Oh and 4 wheeling is so different from a motorcycle haha first time I tried turning I was leaning and not going anywhere and almost hit a car.
I wanna try out a buggy and a dirt bike there.
