I'd consider it, but, if GT5 truly has a date set for the 15th of Oct, then I'll keep it.

I hope Sony releases an update someday that will just allow you to join your PS3 to the workgroup so you can browse all your movies without TVersity or the like.
Ugh... can't stand DLNA

Also, I doubt Sony will ever enable such easy network protocols cause it would be just lead to easier pirating and they don't want the PS3 to be looked at in that way. It's one reason they have kept it FAT32 for the usb drives, no official mkv or h264 support, etc.

I will more than likely use it for GT5 only. It's really not worth using as a media center. I'm going to build a HTPC with something like XBMC on it for network video streaming.

well the ps3 would also have more issues if people PLAYED THEM EVERYDAY!

haha! but seriously the new xbox360s are much improved.

I applaud Sony coming out with the slim. When we heard that they canceled productionof the current PS3 in Japan two or three months ago, we were all worried it was the end of the run. But when we heard they bought enough parts and materials to make a million more, we knew the Slim was coming, but not this damn soon. I expected XMas at the earliest.

The slim will have all the current features in a smaller body. The only thing I'm afraid of is cooling. The current models do run hot, but nothing that will cause overheating ( they arent made by microsoft, after all ). When I get my hands on one sunday or monday, I'll check it out. May have to sell one of my Bacwards Compatible ones and get one.

I might consider the slim for it's energy saving capabilities.
