I'm still glad i bought my 80 gig one. made great use of it. I like the fact that its backwards compatible. It sucks that the new slims ones arent. I might need to pick up a slim one one day for my room.

I guess i get one now since I can get No interest or payments for 12 months if I use my best buy card :P But will the 80GB original version play PS1 games?

I don't believe any of the new PS3s are backwards compatible. The old 80 and I believe 60gb were (you can check and see if you have 4 USB ports, those are the ones with backwards compatibility), however, sony was losing too much money putting in the hardware for backwards compatibility. There was a rumor going around, since sony filed for new patents, for backwards compatibility software that could decode the PS2 format for the PS3, to be released when the slim came out, however, the slim is still not backwards compatible. I'm still hoping and praying that Sony does eventually release it because I have a whole bunch of PS2 games collecting dust because my old PS2 crapped out.

I bought my PS3 for $300 2 years ago. I got a sony card, instantly approved and the first purchase was $100 off. So I bought a PS3 with it and then paid if off. Haven't pulled out of my wallet since.
I think if I had to do it all over again, I'd have waited. I bought it to have it for bluray, and now that we make out own bluray player, I don't even use it. Because reason 2 for buying the PS3 was for GT:5, and who knows when that's gonna happen.
I haven't touched my PS3 in over 11 months!

I dont have one yet either... Couldn't justify the $399 cost, $299 sounds much better... Maybe I'll finally get one. I was debating on a 360 or a PS3 but have been swaying towards the PS3 due to the fact that the 360's break like 70% of the time.
