Anyone dealt with cluster flies before?

Never in my life have I dealt with these filthy little ****ers. We're clean, hygenic people but we do have two dogs that go in and out of the backyard all the time. Not sure how we got these buggers but can't seem to shake them. Any exterminators on here want to share some tips or which chemicals to use that are pet friendly.

I want something for the soil outside and possibly even inside. We rent the place so ripping out the carpet isn't gonna happen but Im thinking about renting a steam cleaner and going to town and then opening up the sides of the carpet and spraying something that will deter these ****ers from coming back through crevises and what not. Just need to know which chemicals will work and are pet safe. We have a 12 pound dog and a 120 pound dog.

a "fly strip" or two, hung outside near the door will help cut down on them quite a bit.

Yea its weird this year man. The extra hot summer is making these things go dormant and then come back again thinking its summertime.

I'll give it a shot. I've tried using one of those smelly ones before that trap them but I swear it attracted every fly in a 1000 yard radius. Thinking about slapping one of these on the window they seem to love.
