I don't remember Max Payne (1st game) having a great story. I did like the game. It was the first to do bullet time right. I agree, the narration was cool too. I knew the movie was a likely flop. I'm not even sure if I'll rent it at this point.

Highly suggest if you are a fan of Maltese Falcon or Tracy to check them out.
The second game was alright, slightly better /more interesting weapons, but I was hoping for a little bit more development of the storyline, or something more.

Yeah, it'll at least be worth a rent just to see how the movie compared to the games.

Was Starship Troopers a video game? I thought it was based on a novel from the 1950's.

My mistake - the movie was so bad that I thought it was based on a video game.

I guess that I am the only one who actually enjoyed the movie. It may just be that I don't think much of most video game based movies and the small details in this movie made me appreciate it. I liked how they used similar weapons as the game, the slow-mo shoot outs, and how the snow looked like it did in the game.

The movie was def on the slow side and I did expect more action. I think that even though the story was altered a little bit it attempted to stay true to the feel of the game.

I wish that they would have made his wife's murder scene bloody. She just looked like she was sleeping. The Lupino character was pretty weak, too. Lame.

The movie could have been better, but for a video game based movie it wasn't half bad.

No, not as bad - but same amount of promise (both games won awards for Best Game of the Year) and turned into trash on the silver screen.

So, when has a video game-based live-action movie EVER been good? Hell, when was the last time a game-based movie was even decent? What the hell made you guys who are now complaining about what a steaming pile of crap Max Payne is think it would be anything other than that?!

Here are some examples:

* Super Mario Bros. (May 28, 1993) - CRAP
* Double Dragon (November 4, 1994) - CRAP
* Street Fighter (December 23, 1994) - CRAP
* Mortal Kombat (August 18, 1995) - CRAP
* Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (November 21, 1997) - CRAP
* Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (June 15, 2001) - OK
* Resident Evil (March 15, 2002) - CRAP
* Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (July 25, 2003) - OK
* House of the Dead (October 10, 2003) - CRAP
* Resident Evil: Apocalypse (September 10, 2004) - CRAP
* Doom (October 21, 2005) - HUGE PIECE OF CRAP
* BloodRayne (January 6, 2006) - Was this piece of crap even in the theaters for more than a week?!
* Silent Hill (April 21, 2006 - CRAP
* Dead or Alive (September 15, 2006) - CRAP
* Resident Evil: Extinction (September 21, 2007) - CRAP
* Hitman (November 21, 2007) - CRAP
* In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (January 11, 2008) - CRAP
* Far Cry (October 2, 2008) - Probably Crap
* Max Payne (October 16, 2008) - And.....CRAP. Surprise, surprise....

Super Mario Brothers was awesome!

Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper!

For nostalgia's stake - I think it is the best video game move made.

Yay for Valkyr!!!

I saw "In the Name of the King." It was alright. I think Statham's performance was not as good as in others, such as "Crank," and the Transporter twins. A bit long, but nothing droning.

Totally disagree and I was really into hitman... Everyone who played the game liked it because it stayed true to the game yet still had a cool story that was totally unreal, but its the game HITMAN! What do you want then to make a film and totally disregard the film?

There were some folks that didnt like hitman that also played, however they didn't play the whole series, or were expecting Hitman to not be about the video game. Tim Olyphant did a great job..
