Anybody been to N'Awleans recently?
Planning a trip for the fall and am looking into different hotels and the like.
If you have been to New Orleans recently or have any tips / advice I would really appreciate it

doesn't matter what time of the year it is...beads ALWAYS works!
also...avoid the restaurant on bourbon...way too touristy and not that good (not necessarily bad though) for the price. quieter parts of the french quarter have excellent food for much more reasonable prices.

Get some hurricane slushies and wander around Burbon Street (Be Warned: smells like a mixture of vomit and urine in some spots...
) Try a Po' Boy sandwich.

I went last year for the Final Four and back again this March. For all you can eat raw oysters on Friday nights, check out the Renaissance Arts Hotel in the warehouse district. Awesome! There's a cool bar right across the street, Lucy's Retired Surfers. A bunch locals hanging out after work. This area is away from cheesy, touristy Bourbon St. For a tasty po boy, go to the Verti Mart just outside the Quarter. It's a hole in the wall grocery w/ a deli in back. You have to take out but well worth it!
Owlboogie's right, Bourbon St is foul so heed this advice from the cabbie who drove us to the airport the 1st year - go buy yourself some cheap shoes and wear those while walking on Bourbon and toss 'em when done.
We took the trolley to the Garden District...a nice departure from the Quarter.
Of course, you have to visit Rick's Caberet on Bourbon...very nice talent at night!
Have fun!
