Any Ideas

Well I just finished installing a gruppe s header and new gaskits today and after driving from Palo Alto to Fremont I started noticing a clunking rattling noise coming from under the car only on decel and when on the brakes. The header was torqued to the proper specs and checked for leaks before putting the skid plate back on the car.The only thing I can think of is that is was a tight fit between the frame the skid plate mounts to and the header, could it be vibrating against that? But I did not hear it on my test drive so I don't know but now I'm scared to even drive it back to my buddys shop any Ideas on what it could be?

Headers were making contact with the frame, fixed with my linemans pliers just bent problem section to make about a half inch of clearance opposed to the 16th of an inch that there was before annoying noise gone.Anyone else have this problem with gruppe s headers?

Nope. I have the unequal length ones from a year or two back. Which type do you have?

These are unequal length that I bought from a member here that only had them on his car for 3months they were in fabulous shape when I bought them so they could not have been that old

Weird. Tolerances? Mine don't hit the frame, but it's pretty snug.

i've heard this is a pretty common issue, at least with these headers. i bet i'll have to cut or bend my sub-frame a little when i install my gruppe-s unequal header. what up-pipe are you using?

Right now just the stock up-pipe but I think there are only a few aftermarket ones that will work with this header due to the two bolt flange have you heard of one that works better than another with this header, and I also have heard that the up-pipe is a pain in the a-s to install and can take up to 6hrs any truth to this?

It depends if you're crap with a wrench. I'm crap with a wrench, and it took me about 10 hours to do my uppipe (solo). Others... may be somewhat quicker.
