I'm thinking of selling/trading in y car... it's a 2004 2.5rs, automatic, 14k miles, OEM sti HID's and OEM STi wing. Near perfect body and paint. I've checked carfax and ebmunds, but i've heard on the boards here that those are realistic. So any idea out there?

 

You're probably better off putting the stock headlights on since you can get a lot for the hid's, since the prices on KBB never account for mods. I would go a little over trade in price quoted to you by kbb.

 

Are you planning on replacing it with a new car soon?

If so, ask the dealership what your trade-in value is.

As HomerJay said, a little over KBB trade-in value is a decent measure.

As you probably know, you get hit with the most depreciation in the first year, so be prepared for that.

The best measure of value is to know what similar vehicles, preferably close to your area, sold for. Insurance companies have access to that data.

 

cool thanks for all the good info. I was actually looking for a 00-01 rs to replace this one. I just like the look of those a lot more... I got one quote from a used car dealership and he said he'd offer me at most 13000... Really surprised me, cause that's how much you can get a used gc8 with a lot of miles... and considering i payed around 19k after taxes and everything, that'd be a huge hit...
