Any good Bay Area fishing spots?
I went fishing last weekend for the first time in about 10 years. I managed to catch a small perch, who threw up a half digested guppy when I lifted it into the boat.
That was out on Lake Del Valle. It was a cool spot but I was hoping some folks on here would have other suggestions for decent places to fish.

Clear Lake - Californias' largest all-natural lake FULLY SITUATED in the state of California.
They have Nationally televised Bass tourneys out there, but if you're into other species, the catfishing is good, and if you're into Carp, that lake grows monsters.

- Coyote reservoir in Gilroy is awesome for largemouth bass
- stevens creek is kinda slow seeing that the most productive thing there is trout in fall on the dam
- when Lexington off 17 gets back to normal (the waters up, but the fish are all freaked), its a good bass fishing spot, lots of good quality. good trout too
- if u can go without ski boats, Calero is good for bass
- Del Valle isnt bad if u can find the fish. Trout are abundant (sp?) by the dam and the bass are spread around but there. there are also striped bass, very fun
- Anderson Reservoir is great for smaller bass and trout
i used to fish a lot
, still do, just less

I used to fish Loch Lomond above Santa Cruz. Nice place, but that was awhile ago, so I don't know much about it now. Also the Capitola and Santa Cruz wharves are great, with lots of halibut being caught lately, but much less involved than lake/lure/boat fishing...
yoooooooo. the water in clear lake is practically toxic. Definitely not a a good place if you want to eat!!

Seriously, bay area lakes, strictly catch and release for me.
10 years back I was fishing at lake Cunningham in SJ ( yea the one next to raging waters) and my friend caught a huge bluegil...... or was it a crappie? Either way a guy in the cove of the lake caught a HUGE catfish using hot dogs as bait. That thing was like 3 feet long and a head like a pitbull.
I also fish across from candlestick park, like at midnight and have caught stingrays, small sharks, and carps. Haven't been there in forever though.
