Lightbulb Another question for Tuners - Gas Brand.....Does it Matter??

91 at the pump is the best we got. Does brand matter? Any favorite brands or brands to stay away from?

I always try to find pumps with 3 different pumps for each grade....that way I dont get backwash.

Funny, I keep telling myself its a mind game, but that is also my same experience. Chevron ain't so bad either... but they are like 'The Man' when it comes to gasoline, and I'm all for " to the MAN!!!" So I try not to when I can.

ARCO supposedly buys more from domestic (alaska/texas) crude oil suppliers. Seems to work OK for me?!?!

I know there's a difference, but I have no idea how much. From my experiences, Costo gas is the worst I've ever put in my car. Unbelievable knocking with anything over 4.5k.

Only thing I don't like about Arco is no credit card. With gas prices and my Subaru Card... $3.00 X .03 = 9 cents per gallon. Usually that's the difference in price.

well I work for Costco I know the gas isn't the greatest but it dose come from the same place that 76 and Arco get there from the only difference is the additive which Costco doesn't use as for Chevron they are like every one said just over priced

the only things that really make a difference in the gas between the stations is the additive and how clean the station looks, I know the looks, well trust me if a station looks like crap then chance are that they don't clean there pump filters regularly or there tanks which means you get lot of junk in your gas when you fill up at the pump

yeah chevron gas is usally pretty good, 76 is good also.

Shell throws way to much additives in their gas to make it effective from a performance standpoint.

I know a buddy of mine went to a cheapo place one time and something horrible was up with the gas (don't know if they put the wrong gas in the tanks or what) but he data logged it and just did not see good things going on. might have been a mistake at the station any station could have made, or it might have been related to the fact it was a cheapo place

I usually do 76. I used to do Valero but then I-Club peer pressured me to use 76 and I've stuck with it since its my routine and its only a few cents more than Valero (Valero is also a ***** to get in and out of when I'm leaving work)

Shell works best for me here but at home SUNOCO all the way. Plus they have 100 octane pumps at almost every station.
