Another brilliant way to get us to slow down...

"It's depriving you of another one of your liberties -- going fast," Pattee said. "If they implement it everywhere, there will be nothing but red lights. Nobody does the speed limit."
heh heh heh...its true...besides...think of this....if someone is speeding and the light turns red suddenly, and the speeder slams on his brakes....what happens to the car behind him, that CANT stop as quickly as the speeder can, and smashes into the backend of him? potential cause for accidents too...
sorry if this is a repeat of someone.....I didnt read all the posts. < shrug >

Known: The sensor is 350 feet before the light (0.06628 miles)
Assumed: 2 second yellow light
To hit the intersection before the light turns red:
(350/5280) / (2/3600) = 119 miles an hour
If the yellow light was 3 seconds, you would only have to be going 79.5 mph, 4 second yellow light = 59.65 mph
and so on and so forth...

nice work

i.e. the faster you are clocked at, the shorter the yellow light.
Your best bet is to probably be going 120 mph

There has to be a minimum length for a yellow by law. Otherwise they'd of set it to .00001 seconds and write everyone up for running red lights.
wouldnt' this also make speeders more impatient by forcing them to sit there? if i was speeding b/c i'm late, you can postulate that i'll speed even faster to get to my destination on time.
this is purely hypothetical, of course...

Has anyone consider just spray painting the sensor black? heh..... In no way am I response for actions anyone has taken by reading this post. Thought I'd mention that.
