yeah hayward has always sucked, no offense to the people that live there, but there is a lot of gang activity. That whole area is infested with it, Hayward, Fremont, Oakland, Alameda, Parts of Berkely, Richmond, San Pablo

Its just not a place for someone to raise a family.

No, it's not next to Oakland. Not without bypassing San Leandro first. Ugh. -_-

Luckily, where I live is the small patch of San Leandro that's actually decent. A few weeks ago, my friend saw a crack head in front of Safeway in downtown San Leandro. It's not that the dude just happened to look like one, he was smokin' a crack pipe in broad daylight. O_O

My friend was a substitute teacher at San Leandro High and had the craziest stories of how ghetto the kids were. Kids getting referrals and just walking around or off campus, answering cell phones in the middle of class. One student tried to sell my friend a laptop for 150 during passing period!

I went to school at San Leandro High from 95-99. I heard it got even worse since then.

unfortunately, this is true. i used to live right next to southland, but was able to move out my junior year of highschool into the hayward hills (parents finally had the moneys to). sadly, i've seen the city go from a really really nice spot where you can bike down the street with no worries, to one where there is graffiti everywhere...sign of the times man...sign of the times.

try telling that to them. and by them, i'm not singling out a certain race, because i've seen all walks of ethnic background take part in this...HYPHY movement. i mean, come on, how can you take pride in a scene that is all about being high, drunk, slurring speech, and driving like a moron on the road? going down mission today, i had to slow down because a buick regal with 4 guys inside was weaving side to side in the two lanes.

Its just not a place for someone to raise a family.

You CANNOT group Fremont with Alameda, Berkely, Hayward, or OAKLAND!!!

Fremont is what, the 3 or 4th largest city in CA? That means there are a lot of people spread over a very large area, and of course there will be some crime... But Fremont has on average 3 murders per year, and those murders are not commited by people living in Fremont... The schools in Fremont range from really good (Mission), to pretty poor (Kennedy)... but even the worst school isn't as ghetto as some of the best schools in the other cities mentioned.

Did you get Fremont mixed up with San Leandro perhaps?

I don't know why I'm defending fremont, as I don't really like the city due to its lack of activities... Its just a bunch of quiet suburbs and tech areas.
(But yeah, it does have it lame teen crime... 15 year olds trying to prove they are hard, etc... every city has that)

Oh, I agree that Hayward has always been bad (unless you're in the hills, then its pretty nice I guess)... but over recent years, more and more of Oakland has been spilling over to neighboring cities, which sucks for anyone who doesn't have enough money to move to a nicer area... they are stuck with the imbaciles and hip (not) gangster wanna-bes.

I kinda wanna move to a really bad part of Oakland for like a month and just not sleep, sit in my living room with an AR-15 with beta-C drum mag filled with 100 hollow points... Just waiting for the moment to happen.

I lead a sad life.

My wife grew up in Hayward in a "nice" neighborhood and two neighbors that she grew up with were shot to death 1 year appart. Hayward is worse than any other bad neighborhood, because the violence is so new people don't expect it.
