am i going backwards?

well im back.. i stepped away from my subaru for about 5 months now..
i blew the short block so i went ahead and sold some basic performance parts that would have indeed helped me alot with reviving her..

but now.. i came back with much thought. instead of getting a new car and staying in a commited sale.. i went ahead and bought a new OEM 2.5l
short block off a sti.. comes fully assembled rods-pistons ect.

my question for everyone is.. am i going backwards? or upgrading my
poor neglected ***** of a subaru..

its an 03/wagon with 96k miles

i feel mutual at this point.. any thoughts?

You have a sedona red like I do. I say you're going not *** backwards but ***** forward.

Any reason why a 2.5? And those OEM pistons suck along with the ringlands. Beware of those.

Ask some folks how long they have had their 2.5L hybrid motors.

im trying to be cost efficient, but at the same time not go backwards lol..

its cheaper more reliable with added hp. i did not want to go backwards with this one. i sold a good 1400 in just parts so going backwards and buying what i need for the car just to run the same is just depressing..

"ill start from scratch again.. but with a 2.5l"

I'm not sayin 2.5s are bad, just the oem pistons and rings they come with right now do.

I personally like 2.0 more now that I own and driven one.

No expert forsure but I have spoken to A LOT of people with the 2.5L and almost everyone over 300-350+ has blown their pistons/ringlands...just waiting for mine to go out:/

They go out stock, ever since 07 they have been using a different manufacturer. They decline to acknowledge that.

It's also due to our ****ty 91. Far less blown 2.5's with 93 octane or E85.

Look at the options that EQ offers for hybrid setups, they have their own special process that supposedly increases mileage and reliability of hybrid builds.
