To all you unemployed folks...

I'm having a bit of a freak out right now. Honestly, more than a bit. I'm having a hard time keeping my **** together right now.

I just got off the phone with EDD. Congress hasn't decided if they are gonna keep the EDD extension program going. Most folks are pushing for them to extend it but right now it's on COMPLETE hold.

They were suppose to send out notice but haven't done so. I randomly called them because I had issue with this check being late. They guy got it caught up and sent out today then told me it was my last check.

I believe if you are still on your state edd (first year) you will not be effected. But all of those on the later extensions (federal) you're gonna get locked down.

Was pretty nice of them to let me know what was going on. I don't even know how the **** I'm gonna pay my rent now. I have a wife and a brand new baby. I've applied for HUNDREDS of jobs. Hell I applied for 4 since I talked to EDD today.

So expect some fire sales from me. I need to get some money together to pay rent. So all you guys on your federal extensions.... call. Find out when your last check is coming.

Ray, do you ever check out sites like crowdspring.com? It isn't going to get you a full time job, but it'll give you some free lance money.

Yeah EDD isn't the best place for informing people whats going on. I got screwed for 5mnths because one of their idiot workers screwed up my paperwork. Couldn't get through to EDD for awhile. Eventually things got cleared up and corrected.

I'm curious as to how you know if your on the state or federal EDD? My first state claim ended last year, went through all that BS for 5mnths then got started on a new claim. I'm assuming I'm still on the state's payroll?

Yea got my last check on the 10th. Been on EDD for almost a year now, paperwork says I'm eligible for another extension that will be automatically filed... but I haven't seen anything new show up in the mail since the 10th. Gonna call them bright and early tmrw morning to find out whats up.

Jeff... that paper sounds scary but they cancel you state and roll you to fed. Automatic. Unfortunately fed is on hold.

Basically the first year is state... first extension. Next 4 are federal. Total time 22 months. They'll hopefully get in gear and continue it. Otherwise California will have even less money in the pool.

I think you're probably right. I'll report back in the morning and see if they give me the same story they gave you.

EDD denied me unemployment because I was taking a night class at the college. Been hell trying to survive having to sell all my stuff and do off jobs wherever I can. Sorry to hear you're getting cutoff. Hope you can find a job.

Supposedly EDD has been behind, so I wonder if that has anything to do with whats going on for you stg2lgcy00. I just ran out of my initial benefit amount on this claim this past Friday and didn't get anything for the extension. But on Saturday I got a claim form in the mail. Didn't say anything about it being my extension or give me any information on benefit amount though.

Just so I understand, OMA you've only filed one claim correct?

D. Fantom, I've been wanting to take some classes since I finally have the time, but can't because of EDD. Sucks its that way but I get why it is.

Another hint of knowledge - don't ever admit to the EDD that you're taking classes. Even the woman in the EDD office (JOBLINK - not UI benefits worker) told me that. She said always fill out the form the same way - but that's just hearsay, so take it for what it's worth.
