alameda air base

hey. you guys ever heard or been to this place? it's supposedly an abandoned air field. My friends learned how to drive there.
For those of you who long to make Top Gear vids. here's your chance.

I've been there many times, the Alameda skatepark is located there thats the main reason I've gone over there. The place is pretty huge and is a cool place to drive around but they do have security / cops that patrol over there. Mostly the cops are looking out for kids not wearing helmets at the park or who decide to skate some of the stuff on the base... which I have done numerous times.

Naval Air Station (NAS), Alameda was closed for a handful of reasons. One of those reasons was the wrongful disposal of hazardous wastes like lead, mercury, bug juice and old JP-5 (jet propellant-5) IIRC. They covered it up and a lot of civilan workers and military personel were exposed.

Dunno of this is the same place or not but i think it's still considered hazardous. If this is the same place then i'd be careful if i were you.

edit: This was 8 yrs ago though... im sure it might be okay now but maybe not on the actual LZ.

um.. i guess it's illegal. lol. i've never been there. my friend says that nobody actually "races" there. It's just fun to drive around in big circles. it's possible to hit top speeds there though.

Yup. Skatepark's out there. They also filmed a bunch of stuff for Matrix 2 and 3 out there. That's actually where they created the "highway" for the crazy scene in Matrix 2 where they're jumping from car to car. I've only really gone out there for the skatepark, but we always used to drive out on the "open" airfields to go TCOB before the skate sesh I definitely wouldn't recommend any Top Gear type stuff out there. Not only is that a sure way to get all the access gates closed, but it's also kinda sketchy with the cops cruisin' around.

Yea I saw when they had everything set up for filming the Matrix movies over there. I took pictures of the makeshift freeway that was in the 2nd movie. Now that would of been cool to drive on!

avoiding the area is a good idea; a friend went out there, saw a cop turn off his headlights (to sneak up on the group he was meeting up with) so he turned off his headlights wanting to sneak around to warn the group...

Long story short, they popped them for retarded citations like unsafe driving (for driving without headlights).

Maybe the cop heard someone was making donuts.
