Aftermarket HID back to Stock - help
Hey everyone,
I bought my 2005 WRX used and it has an aftermarket HID kit. The wiring looked jumbled when I bought it back in 2009 and I am finally having issues. After testing the bulbs, I now know that the issue is either with the wiring or ballasts. Instead of replacing the entire HID kit, I would rather swap it back to OEM with halogen bulbs.
I searched for a guide but came up empty handed. Can anyone tell me what to do? I've never wired anything before, but I would like to simplify the entire set up. As of right now my car has bundles of wires in various locations.
Thanks,
Rob

I'd just unplug and remove everything from the hid kit. Unplug your oem connectors where they plug into the hid harness and get rid of the rest. Plug the oem connectors back into stock halogen bulbs then pop them back into the headlight housings.

Ive seen some used subies that the owners have done some crimping to their headlights to get the HIDs to work...hopefully this isnt the case. Just unplug everything as he said ^ and you should end up with a female end connected to the car where you plug the stock bulb in

Different kits come different ways. Some cars have thin wiring in the factory headlight wires so they require a power kit. The power kit runs to the drivers side headlight for switch, and to the battery for power... The kits for our cars shouldn't need that. Should just be a ballast plugged into each headlight connector for power and switch.
Op, you should be able to unplug the whole ballast and plug the factory connector directly into a halogen bulb. Only issue I see is that HID kits require you to cut a hole in your dust shield to run the wires... You may need new dust caps.
If you need help, feel free to pm me. We can meet up and get it done.
