The previous owner installed Phillips HIDs in the 2001 RS Coupe I have. On the way back from Boulder Creek this morning, my friend was driving my car and the LH headlight went out. When I got home I checked all the wiring, and it seems OK. The light just emits a very dim purplish glow. I know that HID bulbs fail, but the ballasts fail as well. If anyone has some tips or tricks (beyond basic troubleshooting) or knows a good source for these pieces - please let me know.

On ebay you can get just the bulbs in a few different kelvin temps. hope this helps.

 

Thanks.. I actually started troubleshooting it, and when I noticed it was duct taped together - I ripped out all the HID crap and put regular light back in. Maybe someday I will do the HID thing again. The light was nice.

bet you already have it fixed by now but the same thing happened to me but i never took the time to look in the engine bay fuse box and realize taht the fuse was blown the whole time hope that helps
