Adios Sanchez, Hola Caberra
So i was wondering what others thought about the giants recent trade of Johnathan Sanchez for Milkey Caberra.. Smart, dumb, excited, disapointed, what ya think?
my reaction is a solid "dunno" lol
Cabrera didn't hit all that well in his career and suddenly had a great year last year. Let's just hope he doesn't fall into the Giants hitting slump (like Keppinger did towards the end) and disappoint.
And with regards to our 5th starter, who would be a better option? Zito or Sanchez? lol. Even Surkamp isn't the option (he looks like the making of another Zito, IMO). Needs to work on speeding up his delivery to the plate with men on base.

Its a gamble, but again, so is trotting jonathan sanchez out there every 5th day. He never quite got control of his command, and if the giants pitching coaches cant make progress with him by now, he's probably not worth the additional investment.
cabrera has also been unreliable so far, but just like Pablo Sandoval he rebounded this year after getting serious about his conditioning. Looks like good risk reward imo.

so its goes back to the beltran trade... was it worth our #1 when it appears he could/would have moved up and it also looks like beltran is gone.. where is caberra going to hit now as well.. its going to be interesting to see what they do during the offseason..

I wouldn't rule out Beltran yet. Although the odds aren't as favorable as I'd like them to be.
We do save a few million by letting go of Sanchez and picking up some offense (Cabrera). We're probably dropping Cody Ross as well. So the more money we save, the more chances we have of signing Beltran back. If we don't sign Beltran, then the trade was absolutely not worth it, obviously.
I do, however, like the trade. I was never a fan of Sanchez, even after the no-no he threw. Not quite sure what most Giants fans saw in him....I'm excited to see Cabrera hit for us. Hopefully well, too.

Yeah, I like the trade. Sanchez was always a little hot headed and had trouble getting back in it when mistakes were made. The no-no was sweet as hell and he certainly helped them get into the playoffs in 2010. Onward and upward. Hopefully Cabrera and Pablo get together for some hard core off season training

hope belt can swing the bat a little better this year.. hopefully its just "experience" that he needed in the bigs compared to minors.. i think they need crawford in at short to start the season but maybe thats just me.. pill at first and belt in left..? tough to watch belt out in left cause he looks somewhat lost out there.. i still say get crisp from the A's for center and have him lead off.. that puts belt crisp and beltran in the outfield.. and rotate belt for scheriholtz.. cant wait for the season to start over again.. lol.. sucks with no bball n fball winding towards weeks 11...
