Nope. I like it as is.

Yup, that would be more consistent with other FPS defacto "rules"

FPS games: picking up ammo

Most FPS games, like ModerWarefare3, are not realistic.

That being said, does anyone sorta wish that you needed to do something to get ammo? (besides just running over it)

I feel like it would add to the game if there was a "get ammo" keyboard key that you would need to press to actually obtain the ammo... and that it should take time to do so. After all, they seem to feel that it's important to limit to 2 weapons, that it takes time to switch between the two, time to reload, and larger weapons slow your running speed down. Why not ammo pick ups?

I feel the suspension of disbelief is broken when I've got 279/300 rounds of ammo and run over a dead soldiers gun and magically and instantly pull 21 rounds of it out and put it into a magazine ready to go.

I think its jut as ridiculous that if you reload your gun with half the bullets used, that you get to keep those unused bullets. That's terribly unrealistic.

I played one game that was like that, I forget what it was. Whenever you reload, no matter how many rounds were left in the magazine, you lost those.

It's a game. It's not realistic to begin with. Why gripe over it and not just enjoy it?

NO! wait...**** NO.

I hate the fact I have to stop, and "pick up ammo" in space marine, its a pain in the *** and it gets me shot more than once in a while.

It depends. In a game like COD it is too fast paced. In a game like red dead redemption then it makes sense.

Ghost Recon actually kept track of the number of rounds in each mag. So if you reloaded a partially used mag, it went "to the back of the queue". Once you plowed through your queue of clips, you'd return to this partially used one. As for picking up ammo, it also took time. This was much more appropriate for a game like Ghost Recon, not MW series though.

In Uncharted series, you have to at least pick up the gun to get the ammo from it. This is the system I think is more appropriate for the MW series and FPS of the like.

No no I'm not looking for realism, I'm saying that requiring a keypress and time to pick up ammo would be more consistent with the other "rules" the FPS impose; IE 2 gun limit, reload delay, switch weapon delay, run speed, etc.

You don't want it to be soo realistic it's not fun. I think they have it balanced pretty good.

It all depends on the game you play. If you want something with better realism, Ghost Recon (especially the first ones) Armed Assault, etc are better choices.

But wishing for COD to be more realistic is silly. It is a FPS game in the original style. Run, shoot, get another gun, run and shoot some more.

i run out of ammo a lot in mw3 so i just pick up other peoples guns until i run out of ammo in that one repeat process, which you have to push a button to pick up a weapon

A game like GAMER would be badass, I mean the VR3 not the people dieing part. Though it would be a good way to get rid of life term inmates lol.

I don't really play video games anymore but I couldn't imagine waiting to load ammo/weapons in FPS games. Boo on that idea!
