I should qualify my last statement about the tires. I don't know how bad the tires were or even if it was caused by a puddle. It's speculation.

The way he described it, I think it was a slick spot on the road (left lane of the freeway). He did not mention going through a big puddle, cuz obviously you'd remember some sort of rooster tail.
