How far can you drive w/ 2 blown tires, and I need 2 re92's

Hey guys,

I was just driving and my rear driver's tire blew out, causing me to careen out of control onto the center divider, which caused the front driver's side tire to blow out. Luckily there was no one in oncoming traffic...

Looks like nothings damaged except to two blown out tires.

So,
1. Can I drive 10 miles to Costco on these damaged tires?
2. Does anyone have 2 spare RE92s they could give/sell to me? Preferably tomorrow or friday...

Thanks,
Ambert

You can only drive on them if you can re-inflate them and they stay inflated. Slow leaks are ok so long as you take it easy. If you can get one of them to stay up then unless you have modded brakes you can use the emergency spare for the other. Put that on the rear wheel.

Could be the front just popped of the rim and is ok. Sounds like the rear is probably gone.

Try inflating them first with one of those portable air compressors you can buy for $10 to $20. If you think the problem is just a small puncture you might try that "slime" stuff.

As far as loaning you a wheel it would help if we had an idea where you or your car are located

I would not drive anywhere on a blown tire, or in your case tires.

When I was in high school, a friend and I were skating in Foster City and my 1976 Datsun Longbed pickup got a flat. No joke. I drove it from Foster City up Ralston to Alameda and made it to San Carlos when the tire started smacking the underside of the car. My friend and I were so high, we laughed the whole way to San Carlos. Not only does it take a toll on the rims but the suspension as well when that big lump of tire gets stuck on one end of the tire and your truck starts going up and down.

So don't drive it on a flat tire unless you hate your car.

Well what if I only drive like, 5 miles an hour? If you know the geography of the area, I'm in Palo Alto and Costco's on Rengstorff, ~4-5 miles

But yeah, thanks for the story

I'm in Palo Alto. Both tires are punctured, so no bananas.

If you are nearby I can drive my friend's car to your place on thursday or friday to pick it up? Give me a PM or call me (925)548-4331

Thanks!

Depending on how worn the other tires are, you may need to replace all 4 tires. Supposedly having a difference in tire sizes will place premature wear on the center diff.

i have some solutions. i have 2 re92s that are quite worn out and i'm willing to give them to you. or, if you need tires anyways, i have some bfgoodrich tires that are 205/50/16. they are already mounted and balanced on the stock rims and i'm willing to trade as long as your stock rims are not curbed because there are no curb rashes on mine at all. i'm willing to do the trade for $350 considering that the tires still have at least 85% to 90% tread left. i'm located in sf, so let me know if you're interested!

Really, razorlab? So how long will the effects of transient enhanced diffusion last at 1100 degrees in a silicon substrate doped with a 10^16 dose of 90kEv Boron implant?

Obviously everyone is learned about somethings and not others; very few people are absolutely dumb at everything, though that number seems to be rapidly increasing these days.
