AAAAAAAgh... anyone ever have all their cars stop working on the same day?

My 94 Legend won't start. I think (hope) it's the neutral safety switch. Had AAA tow it home. Had the wife drop me back to work. On the way home the clutch on the WRX stuck in stranding my wife. It's on it's way to DBTuned...

Now, I have to figure out how I'm ****ing getting home... then how the **** I am going to get up to DBTuned to pick up the WRX...

WORST MONDAY EVER.

Where are you going, I work in belmont and am heading south to palo alto after work u can hitch a ride if that helps. sorry to hear about your troubles. About a month back my wrx would not start (left the interior lights on) so i go to jump in the mustang and it broke a belt after warm up, and then the altrack also had a dead battery, took the train and called in late.

No. But I'm very unlucky when it comes to tires. Flat tire every two to three month for last two years. Some fixable and some not. Pain when you find out about it right before I need to go to work. Now, I just have a full set of a wheels with tires stand by for next time.

Subaru is fixed. Master, slave, and hose on the clutch replaced.

Acura is probably starter. Working intermittently. Starter is buried under the AC compressor and apparently you need to put it on a lift and drop the exhaust to get to it.

Supposedly ~3 hours labor.

Oh, and btw, it got me to work, and is sitting dead in the 2 hour zone. Going to go try it again right now.

story of a typical day in my family! lol. My dad has so many cars! 92 toyota needed new tires and has no ac, 96 impala ss has the engine out of it right now, 76 cadillac needs a new water pump so it can only gimp around the block, 72 cadillac eldorado convertible top has the window busted out of the back so its really only drivable in nice weather, just picked up an old cruiser for 99 bucks, but needs a fuel pump, the 93 ford tauras was hit by some kid in a bmw at 80 miles an hour while he was texting and not paying attention so its totalled. The 69 dogdge charger isn't really a daily driver. His two bikes haven't been ridden in so long, they need new batteries and an oil change each. A 2000 millenium Indian, and a hyabusa (sp?) I'm glad my new subie baby purs like a kitten lol

So I went to go start it and it wouldn't. I figured I would go grab some breakfast and try again in an hour.

I totally stacked it on my push scooter on the way back. Totally ****ed up my knee and elbow and my shoulder hurts a bit too.

On the upside, the car started on the second try and I found a nice parking spot in the shade. Maybe karma felt bad for me. Might be the ignition, not the starter. Going to trouble shoot tonight when/if I get home tonight.

Same thing happened to me with 43k on the car, as well as a friend of mine, you'd think it would be a TSB by now.

I figured it out. The tow guy was right. He asked, "Is there an aftermarket security system?" I said, "Of course not". Well, today, I took the dash panel off and what do I see? A ignition kill switch vampired into the ignition switch cable with electrical tape that I remember the dealership trying to sell my dad when he bought the car.

"Do you want to buy this little jumper that you plug and unplug every time you get in and out of the car? It's cool. It disables the ignition so no one can steal your car."

"No."

"Oh, we'll disable it. It will be fine."

Until 17 years later when the kill switch capacitor throws up all over the crappy plastic box zip tied to a screw hole under the dash. Time to see how much a new ignition cable is going to cost.

Boo, "Prolock".

Shoot... try having all THREE of your cars out of commission at the same time. My WRX blew the radiator. The VW snapped a timing belt and my caddy.... well it's my caddy. I did get MAD work done on it last weekend.

Basically... motor in, tranny in, drive line in, struts in, speedo, starter, shift linkage... basically everything on the bottom of the car... done.

All that's left now is plumb the battery, wire the top end, intake manifold back on with the carb, hook up all the lines, fill with fluids... start.

Then of course... seats, carpet, door panels, body work, paint. LOL!

but seriously... you want my vw. LOL!
