Him sitting has nothing to do with hitting homeruns. He can hit them anywhere. SF is the hardest park to hit home runs in...specially for a lefty. Watch the home run derby...how many water ***** got hit?
Bonds hasn't played much on day games after night games for a while. And he rests every now and again. He's over 40 and PLAYING the field. Like I said before...how many guys are doing that.

my issue with Bonds is not the "illegal" drug use, its cause the dude is an ******* and a douche to his fans and the press.
how many stories did you used to hear about before the Giants public relations department got a hold of him?
constantly yelling at fans, yelling at the press (I can understand that sometimes) but when you are cursing out the people that came to see you play, you have issues.
I hate barry bonds because he is a douche bag, not because he uses performance enhancing drugs.

he didn't always play the full 9 innings, he would pull himself out after the 5th so it would count as a full game.
he would DH sometimes to take it easy.
Lou Gehrig played every inning of every game he played
I would have rather seen a consecutive inning record then a game, since its easy to get put into the record book playing the full game.

but what about gehrig only playing 154 game seasons as opposed to the 162 game season that ripken had to play.
does the games where ripken was a DH or took himself out early make up for the 8 game/year difference?
when i hear a "manufactured record" i think of a record like... most base hits to opposite field while the home team is winning in the 7th inning with two outs against left handed pitchers.

oh and long as you get an official at bat you are in the game. the fifth inning rule only counts for pitchers if they get a decision or not.

I can tell you right now that lou did not play every inning of every game. I can say that to my knowledge he ALWAYS played the feild. Never a DH. Mostly on 1st. Some outfield. 16 years. Man I wish he could have played another 5-7 years and lived another 40. Hell of a guy. Hell of a player.
Ripken. No knocking what that man did. He was an ambasador for the game. Old school. Hard nosed. Good ball player. Whether you play 3 innings or 9 if you play that many games in a row...that many years in a row...your playing through injuries of all kinds. Tough *** dude. No knocking that record.....no way. Oh...and too my knowledge ripken only Dh'd 25 times....all in 2000 and 2001.
Honestly.....the most unlikely to be broken records are pitching records....7 no hitters stuff like that....and over 4000 hits. That's a lot of freakin hits. Also...STOLEN bases and walks. Those if ever broken are gonna be a LONG way off. Talkin 40 years. Don't really see people stealing 140 bags in a year these days.

as far as the 5th inning rule, I thought thats what was required, as some of the stuff I read about Cal in his streak talked about him playing up to the 5th inning to make sure the game counted.
maybe he just wanted more at bats or something
