We still got a lot of work to do. But it is definitely nice to pick up Crabtree at 10. I called the raiders drafting DHB alongg time ago. Al Davis just likes 40 speed. Go Niners...and our new jerseys look dope

I'm glad we drafted Coffee as well. He is a pretty solid back from a good division. We drafted McKillop ILB from Pitt with our 5th round. We have two first round picks next year too. Goooood draft class next year

Crabtree has the stats and can catch, but he just had foot surgery and couldn't even participate in any of the rookie testing. Even though his college career was really good, 49ers are taking a gamble on him. Already experiencing foot problems isn't what you want going into your pro career.
As for the Raiders and Heyward, most say it was a bad call. Doesn't seem like the best choice IMO but there's been talk of Vick getting picked up by the Raiders. If that happens, I think picking Heyward is a great call. Have them both on the field is going to throw off a lot of defense's. Heyward takes off going deep, while Vick has all the room he needs to run.

I think the injury is a stress fracture and should not be an issue. I read that he is already out of the boot. He may not be 100% at the beginning of the year but he will be a contributor. Take a look at the WRs and with Vernon Davis, I think the passing game will be much improved.
40 times at the WR position (IMO) is way overrated. Take a look at guys have the "speed" most don't amount to much. For WRs, there are so many things that negate a fast 40 runner. DBs can bump and grab, zones and double coverage.
The raiders can have the fastest guy in the draft. I'll take the guy that can run the routes, catch and make guys miss.

I'm pleased with this years draft to say the least, drafting Nate Davis confuses me. I still think we will be signing another tackle before the season starts, just to add depth.
Crabtree WR
Carolinas 1st Rounder
Coffee RB
Nate Davis QB
Bear Pascoe TE
Curtis Taylor S
Jean Francois DT/DE
Undrafted free agent we signed.
Pannel Egboh DE
Taylor and Francois could turn out to be really good picks. They both have some flaws and didn't play too great in '08, but in '07 JF was BCS player of the game. JF has some character problems but Singletary will solve that in about 30 seconds. There is already word of Jerry Rice and Crabtree talking....OH SNAP!

yeah, can't wait until training camp begins and seeing how things begin to pan out....
oh wait, we need to work out the whole contract thing first with these rookies!

i remember when i was a lil kid my parents would take us to Sierra College in Rocklin (15min drive from our house) and we would watch the 9ers practice.
I am a niner fan, and the things they seriously needed is a dominate receiver, so hopefully Crabtree calls up Rice and trains with him, he is by far the greatest receiver of all time. Niners haven't had the receiver of dominate power since T.O. I think it was a good call for Crabtree to get the surgery now, so the recovery is sooner rather than later. His foot injury won't be a big deal when he gets going. He even has an Isaac Bruce to learn behind for a year or two.
Niners needed an OT, they seriously had problems getting sacked (bad QB/O line.. more bad QB) those guys just held onto the ball too long.
Niners need a better 2ndary, i know they are veterans, but they got smoked over and over again during the past year. A better safety, maybe another CB.
Contributing to a better 2ndary, would be a better pass rush. One of the huge reasons why the niner's just plain got raped on deep ***** is because they let the QB sit forever picking them apart. Pressure leads to mistakes in passing, leads to 2ndary being able to cover for a few seconds instead of 7-10 seconds.
IMO they need a lot of work, especially at the offensive line, so I hope singletary and that new O coordinator beats it into them and the niners come out swinging (an aggressive offense doesn't necessarily mean a grinding run offense, aggressive offense also means attacking the defense). So the passing game will be important.
And I think Alex Smith will win against Shaun Hill. Smith never got the time to grow, so hopefully now after a full recovery, he will have a chance. He was very promising, so hopefully he stays injury free.
