But my issue is that to many people are indoctrinated in that way of thought that they arent capable of pulling their heads out of their asses to see the world in a normal way again. That is my issue with those types. And unfortunately it gets to the point where they spew such stupidity as "i want blood on my saber", ya whater ever dude sabre my *** more like swiss army knife.

Just because your a solider doesnt mean you cant think for your self. It just means that you have to take an order and execute it with no regards to your own thoughts or logic process. That is what it means to be a solider. Granted the people above you maybe the most incompitent *******s ever to walk the face of the earth. But your duty is to take orders and execute them, not ponder them for moral rights and wrongs. And that is where alot of people get screwed up no blame at all should be placed on our troops (unless they deserve it for individual acts) the blame should be firmly placed on those in power. And that is where alot of the "troops" get confused as well, they see people like jason and myself questioning what those in power are doing and then all they can think of is "how un american, how un patriotic, how pinkie this commie that blah blah blah". And all we see is a mindless worker bee speweing out thoughtless drivle that is sooooo obviously tainted by his or her line of work. Just because your a worker bee doesnt mean that you cant think for your self. It just means that you have a job to do how ever right or wrong.
Outstanding response!

This is one of the main reasons why i got out of the military. I always "silently" questioned orders yet I played the "military game" so well that it was scary, like i was a brainwashed machine. And to be honest you need to have that mindset to survive. I just needed to make my own choices in the civi-world once again and it feels good

Having served and seen some nasty **** ill never forget leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth when others question the military and believe they're helping by expressing their opinion(s). You have a good grasp on how it operates though and I tip my hat to you on that.

...being a foreigner to this country, don't know much about the history of the U.S., but i know this much....im sure as hell glad im living here now, raising my son here, than if i was back home (P.I). And i am grateful for the U.S. government for this, not to mention that your forefathers saved us from the Spaniards and Japanese in WW1, WW2, and the continued support the U.S. gives my homeland after the fact that a bunch of nationalists radicals wanted the U.S. bases out<---good move btw, since the P.I. can be wiped out with one missile from any of the neighboring Asian countries with no line of defense…oh yeah, we have some WW2 planes. Oppurtunites and some sort of leisures in life, my family and i would not have back home, we are able to have here. We might not even be able to eat meat, chicken, or go to McDonalds as freely as we want to because we'd be in a financial struggle(don't argue with me, i just know, i lived there and i know how hard it is). But over here, i can say that we are ok, not rich, not poor, just right.

I support the troops, the president, the government, because i am now an American (naturalized in 94). This is my country now, this where we are now...i don't serve in the military, or do any volunteer work for the government..so the least i can do is support them, as much as i hate war (who wants people dead anyways), i choose to support them, because of them, i am alive, they lay their lives for me, and I am very grateful for that, we all should be. A "big" mistake or what not, call it stupidity in part of the government/military...what are we suppose to do? rag on them? is that going to help? will our whining stop all the killings?

I am very sure i don't have the answers, most of us probably don't, so all i can do is have faith towards everyone. Not just us Americans, but towards those this country has conflicts with. I will have faith upon the people around the world that i will continue to believe that there is still some good in our hearts, i will persist on this faith, that somehow, everyone will just come out of their senses, and do the ultimate goodness and kindness towards one another. I really hope all the hate and madness fade away if not end.

again, thanks for another day of living.

The most logical thing that I have read in this whole thread! I love reading stories of LEGAL immigrants! I have many friends in the Navy from the PI!

There is so much wannabe intellect in here, it is really nice to read a plain English, true to the word statement!

Thanks for your support and patriotism Subidon!

i agree with subiedon but when the leadership of a country throws the morals that the country is founded on out the window for its own political and financial gains first. I have huge issues, the issues that concern the people of this country should be the order of buisness, not jaunts in imperialism. What about lack of education for our kids? What about proper health care? What about all these pressing social issues that the administration is ignoring, i dont care about some half assed wars, i want the issues that face the people to be resolved as best they can. I do not appreciate the lies, deceptions, and mis directiosn the current administration has taken upon the people of this nation. For what? To furthur their own goals, not the goals of the people but goals of an elite few who hold power. This is bull****, if u ask me it is tryanny masked by a false sense of democracy. That is what i think of the current adminstration, its a fake administration thru and thru and their actions and policies are akin to that of a jr high student from the great state of Texas.

Hey guys,

Don't get my wrong, I am in no way a fan of pandering politicians. Bush, in my eyes, is the best of a damn bad batch. I don't believe in socialism, even though Bush is a psuedo socialist.

I get upset with people bashing "No Child Left Behind". The socialists are pissed about teachers being stripped of credentials for not being able to pass competency examinations. They should be stripped.

Our schools are hurting due to misappropriation of funds, IMO. To much money is finding it's way into the pockets of the administrators, and not enough into those of the teachers. CA spends what, like $8000 a head a year for education? Something like that. There is no reason that you can't give a kid a tier 1 education with that kind of money. I don't buy the old books thing. I got a DAMN GOOD public education using books printed in the 50's and 60's. These schools find in essential to buy new books yearly, just to keep up with the PC BS. I am actually considering taking up the field of education after the service. I know that for 50 grand a year, I can make a difference.

I could go on and on, about health care and the like. Dave Chapel (Spelling) had a funny spoof about the solution to the healthcare problem...FAKE CANADIAN ID CARDS FOR ALL AMERICANS! I fell out of my chair laughing.

Take care all...

I haven't read all of this thread but I have read some very insiteful posts. I am impressed with some of those posting on this thread.

To those that served. My thanks are extended.

I nearly entered when I was 19. I scored high. Tested well and was in prime condition. They said I could fly until it came time for me to sign. Said a history of degenerative eye site in my family ruled me out for flying and any shot at special forces. What kind of crap is that? Never heard such a thing before or since. My eye site was better than 20/20 at the time.

anyways...it wasn't for me. But if it came time to throw down I'd inlist if I had too. I support this country. As messed up as our leadership is right now. As messed up as our spending decisions are right now....we'd rather spend money on a pro marriage campaign and space exploration than educate the future and support those that spent a life time supporting this country and many fighting for it. But it's still here that I live. It's still here I was raised and here I have the freedom to say **** you bush if I want. To vote for a new president or not vote at all.

This election could be one of the most importan elections of our time. So people get educated. Stand up for what you believe in and vote with educated minds. Not party favored minds. Not what your dad says or your professor says or what that commercial said so and so did. Get as educated as you can on what our candidates believe in.......

Bottom line is this life is mine to live and if i spend it *****ing and moaning it's gonna get worse and worse. I am blessed with a family. A place to live. A job. The opportunity to scratch out a life for myself. That is something I will fight for.

my eyes are fine. I'm 26 now. They aren't better than 20/20 now but my far site is 20. My vision up close isn't perfect anymore.

last time i went to the dr. they gave me glasses but only to ease headaches. He said that because I sit in front of a computer all day my eyes focus on a certain distance for so long that when it's time for them to relax and focus on longer distances it takes time....little blurry little headaches....but my vision still read as near perfect.

no color blindness.

I have outstanding perif vision. No color blindness and near perfect vision.

How is President Bush a socialist ??

The American government screwed up when it decided to go to war with Iraq. It may or may not have been able to prevent the 9/11 terrorist attacks but it could have known better than to invade Iraq. American soldiers were sent there, they have to be supported regardless of the conflict at hand. But the war doesn't have to be supported, and neither should the administration responsible for the war be supported if it's making glaring mistakes and jeapordizing lives.

On another note, you can't argue against Liberal ideology by saying it just "doesn't work," because that's not an argument. You have to support the claim with evidence of why Liberal thought is flawed, not just say, "it's dumb."

Hippies may not be the best people to talk to about Liberal policy, but I think some of you jaded Conservatives out there would have a hard time debating against a professional Democrat, for instance a Senator who devotes their time to knowing the issues.

Also, having an American flag on one's car doesn't make them a Patriot.

not my bag anymore man. I'd do it to help me get a degree but I'd be freakin 30 by the time I got free of duty and had time for school. And beyond that I'd be in much longer to be a pilot...it would have to be a career move. Permanent.

not for me anymore. If the day comes we really go to war I'd consider going in and going after some sort of recon type of deal.

Some would say "voting from the rooftops" is the only way to be a patriot given the current state of the political system.

Note i dont think that way at all... change is best effected thru peaceful means. Violence creates violence (look at the middle east).
