2015 WRX vs STI DynoTests

Dyno tested: 2015 Subaru WRX vs. 2015 Subaru WRX STI - Road & Track

Pretty interesting to see how different the powerbands are between the FA and EJ. Looks like the WRX needs a good tune? Its a torque monster and then falls flat up high. Might be the turbo running out of steam?

Thoughts? Opinions? Insight?

Surprised that the 2.0 liter is making more torque down low than the 2.5 sti motor.

This article could be titled: Direct Injection > than conventional EFI

I'd like to see the Wrx on E85 and other mods like tbe+intake to see what that turbo can do

Quarter miles seem pretty close.

I'm not surprised. It makes sense that Subaru made the WRX more driveablefor street applications.

I attributed the torque to the twin scroll turbo mostly.

Higher compression of the FA20 helps too.

This is nothing new is it? the Sti stock has always made only a little bit more than the wrx since 08, fortunately we know keeping the car stock is silly so it doesn't matter.

Add short, EL headers (begging to be heat-wrapped) and

hmmm, wonder what sort of silicone hose goodies will pop up to aid that nasty-long path to the TMIC?

Doesn't the 2015 WRX come with EL headers stock?

Both models I believe
From DrivingSports review of the '15 STI:

This STI also has unequal headers, which means it retains the trademark boxer sound. Why not equal-length headers like in the new WRX? According to Subaru engineers, it would be more cost effective to simply increase the WRX’s FA-series motor to 2.5-liters. For now, however, STI drivetrain still serves up an epic dose of boxer rumble.

Edit: funny...my post #13 here was WAY later in real time than #14, but jumped ahead. I broke the interwebz.

It does, I was trying to pile on and say that the torque is aided by the (OEM) short, EL headers.

I saw a killer up-skirt shot of the FA20 with the EL plumbing online and damn if I can find it again...
