BUMP
Looking at the Uppipe yesterday it looks like it's a catless STi one, which is not going to work. I bought a STi one thinking this one was aftermarket, but that won't work because of the EGT probeneeds to be there. I'll see if there is a bung for it, if not, maybe I can just have the bung put in.
Otherwise I'll be hunting for a catted WRX one, and will have to go catless later.
Stupid EGT sensor doesn't exist on the STi. When people gut their cats, do they reuse it?
People are nasioc seem to feel the EGT can melt and mess up the turbo... but they are morons, so I can't take anything they armchair seriously.

and usually in the exhaust manifold.
I have the stock exhaust manifold if you need to borrow it.
There is no way for them to see the uppipe anyway!

The stock WRX EGT sensor is in the up-pipe. I can see my up-pipe in my WRX and it's not hard to see if you know where to look and have a flashlight. People usually put aftermarket EGTs in the manifold but you do NOT want one of those for this!! Modifying the exhaust between the engine and the rear cat is a no-no.
That's strange, none of the JDM STi up-pipes I have seen or had came with a bung for the EGT. Maybe they made different models or I was confused.
Probably the best thing would be to have a catted stock up-pipe with all connectors in place. Best thing for the car would be the JDM up-pipe, and tune away the EGT sensor.

Oh... Hmmmm. Might just see if the EGT is there, and if so, the UPPIPE is very OE looking and it IS OE. If they don't know about the UP cat, or don't care really, then it's worth it the way it is.

From what I remember my older brother did a complete 04 sti swap on his 01 2.5rs.. he did have aftermarket intake and exhaust when he got pulled over so they sent him to state ref lol.. he put everything back to stock and took it in.. he told them what he had done, and all that I remeber that they checked was the ecu, the fuel cap pressure, and they looked under the car where the gas tank goes.. I got no idea what they did that for.. and then they checked under the car to see if the exhaust was stock.. and that was it it pases and he payed an extra $60 to get the bard'd sticker on there..

Big thanks to Jeff for coming over to check out the swap progress and show ne his swapped car up close.
I'm going to keep my sti UP in there. There is a EGT bung in the manifold with a snapped off or cut off sensor in it. I'm going to remove the broken sensor and install a bolt for now. Once I have a aftermarket EGT setup ready ill reuse that location. It's about 5-6" from the head, so not perfect, but should be okay.
