Sounds reasonable to me...unlike $600 for the 30k-interval services.

congrats on 100k miles...had compression checked?

Hahah! I got my timing belt changed for $90 at Subaru Of Santa cruz... however, they already had my old timing belt off, so maybe that had something to do with it... ;0)

Where did you get your service done at?

haha. dang... at the rate i'm going @, my car will reach 100,000 when it's 10 years old. A timing belt itself shouldn't cost you over a few hundred bucks. On my other cars, i had my entire service done for like 300 bucks.

on my toyota truck, the belt itself is like $50, but you essentially have to take the front half of the engine off just to get to it...

so labor's like $300...

dont know how the subarus are, but my truck, you might as well do a bunch of other thing while they are in there. like the water pump, a few idler pulleys, etc. cause if like the pump goes out, they have to rip everything apart again...

That's probably the best price you could expect from a dealership in the area. You can probably get MPJ to beat that price, though I don't remember how much they actually charged us. We had them do a few things at the same time (belts, thermostat, ... something like that).
