1 Step Colder Plugs and Gasket Question

so i am in the process of doing my 60k maintenance. so far i've done the cabin filter, transmission, differential, and radiator fluids. was going to start tackling the plugs and fuel filter next. i was thinking of going with ngk iridiums but was wondering if i should go with the 1 step colder ones.

currently i have a tbe (hi-flow cat) tuned with a cobb ots map stage 2. soon to install are a vf43, sti injectors, top mount walbro fp. would this warrant the 1 step colder ones?

also, i'm due for a smog soon so i need to swap out my dp. would one set of new gaskets be fine, or should i get two sets for each time i switch out?

Ask your tuner. Some prefer stock-range plugs, even on 400whp cars.

New gaskets are always best. My car smells, I wonder if it's because of the gaskets that I've reused a couple of times.

As far as gaskets go, I'd say if you got the money to buy em then do it, and make sure the fitment is right and tq specs correct. You might a well do it right if you're down there.

I'd just get one set of gaskets. Use the old ones when you go into smog then put the new ones in when you switch back to your tbe / vf43 ect..

does anyone know if the dealer carries both gaskets for the downpipe? i know they have the turbo to dp, but didn't know if they carried 3" downpipe to midpipe ones.

Some do. I know Miata Subaru in sacramento carries OEM and Remflex flat flange 3 gaskets which I use for my dp to mid, and then em turbo to dp gasket

Yeah, that works if your previous gasket is in good shape, but if it's burnt to a crisp it's a no-go. I'd have a set of gaskets on hand when you do the first swap just in case.
