Should get a divorce but are sticking it out

I'm curious, how many people have parents who were near a point in their marriage were seriously going to get a divorce but chose to stick it out instead? Or who is in this situation in their marriage right now?

I'm noticing that there are many married 10+ yrs couples who probably were on the cusp of divorce but decided not to (family reason? financial? whatever?). So they stick it out, and just fall into this role of "the dead and independent marriage" where they do their own thing and basically live in peace as roommates.

How has it worked out, and do you think they made the right choice?

Most asian parents do this, will live in the same house and won't talk to each other EVER.

My parents were going to get divorced before when my brother and I were young, but they didn't for us. I thought that they'd get divorced once we got older but instead they've stuck together. I think its worked out fine, it's almost like they are good friends and not husband and wife.

I don't get it. Why not just end it cleanly and find better ways to enjoy your life?

Except for the toll that it took on my kids, it was the right thing to do. Or I would be in prison because she'd be deceased now. Sticking around isn't the right choice. What exactly are you "helping" by sticking around? Move on.

Same with my family, although I think the "cheaper to keep her" is the reason my parents stayed together after all the kids moved to college...too much $ tied up in each other and a divorce would be messy...

Separate but together kinda deal..

If your not going to stick until the end of it, than don't do it.
Plus, your not a man of your word when you say "through paint and sorrow" or "good times and bad" or whatever you say right before you get married.

Don't be a bxtch and puss out.
If you find out that the female is someone who is completely different than you thought, that is your fault not finding all of the answers and testing her.

In my opinion, I find getting attached for the wrong reasons is becoming weak and that if you want the right woman, you need to test her and see what she is all about and is actually good for you.

If she just stayed in the kitchen... I wouldn't need to test anything but a nice warm meal when I come home from work!

That is great in theory, but there are a lot of other reasons for divorce.

If a guy finds out his wife is cheating should he just 'be a man and stick it out'? Isn't it being more of a man to not let someone walk all over you and improve your situation?

Your statement is great in theory, but it's only a theory.
