If you insist on waiting for Cobb, which I would, add a few gallons of 100 octane, or octane booster to your gas tank each fill up and keep off the boost. Otherwise I would swap your stock downpipe back on.

For $700 we offer an ECUTek license TUNED for one map. It might be a better idea to just bite the bullet and get the ECUTek tuned on the car for safety.
Thanks.

It really amazed us that subaru would release a car this dangerous in its stock form. We saw the same stuff in 2004 when the 04 2L was swapped over to have the open-closed loop switch over but since they werent making quite as much TQ they didnt seem to be as dangerous.

When I only had an uppipe in my 04 it wasn't as bad as david's. But yes, I agree with all above said statements.
If it were my choice, I would go back to stock and wait for the fix from cobb. EcuTek works, but Cobb is better in every way. For that and other reasons, I would give my money to Cobb over EcuTek.

Ok who else is upset that they put the 2.5 in the 06 and up subaru's. I have an 04 and man I wish I had a 2.5, you lucky fools. ha ha. mine threw down 196hp and 192 tq. I could go for another 50tq like you guys. I have a Helix uppipe and Helix tbe, and a perrin short ram. You 06 guys have my power stock. I do need a tune and I need to change my plugs, maybe throw in some synthetic oil and some octane boost. Get a VF34 Turbo upgrade, injectors, fuel pump, front mount intercooler, RA gear set, pully, and alcohol injection, then maybe....maybe I will have STI power but not torque. poor little ej20

Those numbers seem a bit low though, back in April/2005 when Moike initially tuned my car with only an uppipe I made 193/193 on that dyno. with a short downpipe, and stock 3rd cat it went up 11-12HP & ft-lbs.
and I just read you are not tuned... that is dangerous, just ask ipozestu. He blew up his 04 motor with only an uppipe/downpipe. You really should get tuned.

Ya I talked to GST about getting tuned. The good part is that my car is running rich not lean so I do not believe it will not blow up. It just is being bogged down by all the fuel. ha ha. After a tune He said I should put down 215hp and 211 tq or so.

Running rich can still lead to a short life on a motor. All the extra fuel causes carbon build up and slowly destroys any cats (if you have any
). Carbon build up can eventually cause detonation, so your motor might not be destroying itself now, but it might be later.
I have a '04 with Utec (tuned by myself) and dynoed to verify HP by Mike a while back and I'm hitting 260 awhp. My setup is Utec Stg 4 tuned, STi IC, VF34, STi Pinks, Perrin DP, Helix Uppie & Borla Hush Exhuast.
I have to dig up the dyno. Dynoed it back when Mike was at GruppS

For all the pre 06 guys wishing they had a 2.5, just remember the issues we have. Crappy tune from Subaru, boost creep galore....and more expensive/bigger turbo setups
