1.3 Bar Cap for Koyo Radiator and Reservoir
I have decided that I shall replace my radiator with an aftermarket unit from Koyo. But the Koyo radiator does not come with a cap. So I want to buy Koyo's 1.3 Bar cap. It's this one:

Since the radiator will now hold higher pressure, will the reservoir near the turbo also need a 1.3 Bar cap? If so, I will need to order two caps. But will the Koyo cap fit the reservoir?
Please advise. I want to do the job correctly.

you dont need to order/buy any caps, reuse what you have. Koyo makes a very specific radiator for the 02 wrx.
the 1.3 bar one if you choose to go that route goes on the filler of the reservoir NOT the radiator...ever (which is not on the 02's)

I know the OEM radiator for the 2002 didn't have a provision for a radiator cap. And as you stated, Koyo makes one specifically like that.
But I was planning on going with the 2003-07 style radiator with a radiator cap. From the cap nipple on the radiator, I would run a hose into a tee connection that meets the overflow return line into the overflow tank. See post #44

So in this case, I would need a 1.3 Bar cap on both the reservoir and the radiator. Right?

the cap in that picture is incorrect. that cap pictured is for the reservoir. the cap on the radiator needs to be the same as what is used on the 03+ models (its round with no tabs on it).
if you choose to put a 1.3 bar cap on, again it belongs only on the reservoir (filler tank).

The pic helps.
Most websites that I have been to state that a radiator cap is not included with the Koyo radiator. So that's why I wanted to buy one. But the ones with the tabs/ears are meant for the reservoir.
So I should get an OEM round style cap for the radiator and if I choose to do so, buy a tab/ear style cap for the reservoir. However the cap for the reservoir must have a higher pressure rating.

yes on the round radiator one...but the reservoir one can be stock as well (with tabs), if you choose to do a 1.3 bar vs OEM, that is fine, as long as you put it on the reservoir tank one
