~RIP~ Proxes 4s

Well, with a couple months past a year of age, my right rear tire suffered a fatal sidewall damaging flat. So once again, long before I should be, I am on the tire market. :sign0080: Unless I can find someone with a donor proxes 4 of similar wear (almost no chance), I have to figure out what I'm going to get now. Part of me wants to get another (costly) set of proxes as this far they served me really well in every condition I threw at them. The other "pissed off at having to get new tires" part of me is saying to get some summer tires like potenza re-01rs have fun now, and deal with getting all season ones come fall.
I know there is a tire discussion thread every few months and I've read most of them in the past, but I'm ready for another one. Suggestions?

Get 1 proxes 4 from AIM tire at Infineon Raceway (you are close) and have them shave it to the correct tread depth. They will help you out. They sell Toyo race tires mainly but also carry proxes4. Ron Cortez is the man.

if you do have to get all 4 go with an online tire store.. i have found them as cheap as $80-ish.

up there an all summer tire will do fine year round. I've been running RE-050A's for a solid year (granted it was a dry winter) but even with the few big storms we had, no problems

oh, and by getting my 4 RE050-A's with the BS replacement certificate and installation it was still about $50 cheaper than going to Discount Tire Co.

damn, tirerack.com is all out of 16" RE050-A's (were on closeout with a good price) so it looks like I'll be buying tires for my next set one at a time

+1 AIM. They totally saved my ****. Getting a replacement tire, shaved, mounted etc for a steal of a deal. My wallet is escaping with much less damage than I expected.

proxe 4's are mad cheap.

I got mine for about $80 a shot off edgeracing.com. Great service. Very timely. Then take them to wheel works and get them installed. Think that cost me under $100 with lifetime rotate/balance and a warranty. WOOT!.

nope. maybe you were driving too fast?

I've had these in EVERY condition you can imagine and they've done quite well actually. For an all around tire I didn't expect them to do so well. short of a specialized winter tire these are the best I've had so far. right there with pzeros.

I gotta agree with OneManArmy. I've driven these in both heavy heavy rain, and snow and ice conditions. Never had any traction problem in any situation (given I slow my roll for anything less than dry conditions). Also they have surprisingly good dry grip given they are all season. If I hadn't been able to get a single tire, I would have bought 4 new proxes 4s. For all season performance they can't be beat.

I found the sumitomo HTR+ all season to be a little better than the proxy-4 in just about every regard, but especially price.
And they aren't directional so they can actually be rotated for longer tread life.
