where to go for STi engines

just build your own block.
Sleeve a standard EJ25 block and it'll be WAY stronger than the STi block.
Buy some JE pistons
Shot peen and prep the factory N/A rods and they'll be stronger than the STi rods.
Get the whole thing balanced to <1/4 gram and it'll turn higher RPM's too.
And it won't cost much more than the STi block.
Darton Sleeves: 85 each
Block work: 300 <-quote from my local machine shop
Shot peen rods: 60 <-same shop
JE Pistons (8.5:1)400 <-Jegs mail order, I have a set sittin' here Part Number 205103
Rings: 125 <-jegs again
Balancing: 150 <-same shop
Total: 1375 <---- I think that's less than an STi shortblock and it'll handle more power and turn higher RPMs

The sleeves in the standard block have a 30,000 psi tensile strength. The Darton Sleeves have a 135,000 psi tensile strength. I'm pretty sure that's WAY stronger than the STi (4X).

ok, that sounded scary.i think i will just keep checking the local
parts yards for a good front clip.theres a lot of old people with subies who cant drive in nh. it cant take that long.
