Turbo lacking Intercooler
I was looking possibly into the idea of turbocharger or a supercharger and I came accross Forced Air Techs, Stage 1 turbo system. I noticed that it lacks an intercooler completely compared to the stage 2 which for the extra 800 or so has one. I have a 2002 RS and unfortunately it doesn't come with a hood scoop. Is there a big advantage of going to the Stage 2 w/ a top mount intercooler over the Stage 1 with no intercooler? But how does this turbo operate with no intercooler though? Thanks for any help on this question...I think there should be a book titled "Subaru's For Dummies"....damn i need that book

the intercooler cools the air coming from the turbo into the intake.
the cooler air is denser and there for has more o2 and make more horse power. the stage one has a pipe that runs strait from the turbo to the intake. i would not recomend the FAT kit instead i would recomend the AVO kit from www.rallitek.com , if you call them they could probably either remove it from the kit or sell you a FMIC (front mount intercooler) for a WRX wich should work becuse the cars have the same front end. or just find a WRX hood and go with a TMIC (top mount intercooler).
hope this helps

Stage I turbo kits will run about 3-4 psi of boost and cut nearly a second off your 1/4 mile, and make the car feel much faster. To use a Stage II/III top mount, (for which I'd recommend Ludespeed- Tom uses Links with his kits and is awesome with post-sale customer service) you just need to grab a stock WRX hood. Sometimes you can find those on eBay.
